My favorite mobile game
This game can be played with only one hand (using your thumb) which is perfect when riding the train. Sometimes the train shakes, so having one hand free to hold on to the railings helps a lot.
This game is turn based, so you can get off the train without interrupting the run. Games like Downwell are fun, but you have to pause them and getting back into the flow is much harder in that game than GunRounds.
Both of these things wouldn’t work if the game was badly designed. Thankfully the game is awesome and does the Downwell but turn based so well, I like it more than the original.
This game has inspired me to try and make games myself, so thank you for making this game!
So many challenges!
Simple and stylish roguelite
Short, sweet and satisfying.
Thanks for making this game, scratches that roguelike itch real well and fills the free minutes during the day perfectly. Though a good run did make me late out the door this morning 😋
Great to pass a little bit of time here and there
I have a request
10/10 would play again
Love you
Excellent!
A bite size rogue-lite that scratches the itch when out and about (and has started to consume time at home)
This game is a complete package for me. While there are much more robust titles on the app store I personally prefer something tailored for phones and their mobile short-bursts-of-free-time style and this game checks all the boxes on my list:
- A rogue-lite, replayability
- Played in portrait
- Playable with one hand
- Has turn-based combat...
- ...but also active combat!
- Not too complicated, but makes you think
- Consistent theme and artwork
- Great sound track
How this title manages to fuse turned based combat (imo almost a must for mobile and my lifestyle) with active combat is fantastic. The aiming is similar to a previous iOS Bust-a-Move game and feels very natural while the defensive reaction reminds me of Studio Pixel's Azarashi with a twist- every enemy has different attack patterns so it keeps you on your toes but gives you the opportunity to learn. It's great combination of different mobile friendly concepts in a fresh way and I love having time to think but also a section to then react.
I don't know if the developer ever plans to expand this game in the future or build a successor but it's certainly one I'd keep an eye out for.
My only downside would be power consumption. On a 2020 SE it will warm up a little and take a nice bite out of the charge after 30 minutes of play time. If a "battery-saver" mode or similar were introduced I'd be ecstatic. (See above, this has been fixed as of 1.0.5.1!)
If you enjoy rogue-lites and have a hankering for one on mobile this one is definitely worth trying out for the asking price. One-time purchase mobile apps are becoming more rare and this one will be happily resting next to Downwell on my home screen.
A short, fun, and challenging game.
Also recently I have come across (in my opinion) a glitch that makes the game have almost no challenge at all on any mode. I got the item “emperor round” and died on one run. The next run I noticed that it seemed like the effects of this item were still in effect. Then I bought the demon skull and bubble shield in the first shop. After this, the enemies started to drop very large amounts of money, usually over 150 per room/level in the coast and over 500 per room in the gehena. When the run was over I finished with over 5800 even after buying all the items in the shop.
Response from developer
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review! I'm glad that you've been enjoying the game:) As far as that glitch goes, I'll definitely look into it! Not really sure what's going on there but hopefully it won't be too hard to fix. Thanks for pointing that out to me!
Brilliant
This game is clearly a work of love! There are not a massive number of weapons and items but a few dozen is enough to populate the game with some fun synergies and several unique builds. I've also gotten up to 45 different palette swap choices which is a really nice touch.
Currently I've made it to the coast in hard mode with 59 total games. Definitely worth spending a little for a game like this than to suffer through ads for a meager experience. Great job :)
Also the clone's face really matches my aesthetic 11/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow
I played Downwell and I was recommended this I wasn’t expecting to much but
Wow was I incredibly wrong!
The music is amazing
The graphics are beautifully drawn
The attacks are incredibly easy to use
I would recommend to anyone
Well, thanks for reading. I hope you have an awesome day =(^.^)=
Fantastic
Really enjoyed this hidden gem
Not going to lie, it’s a hard game. You will get better the more you play it. It’s very quick to jump in and start playing. Rewards beyond your imagination await for those that dare try to take on the Shop keeper. But you’ve been warned and no longer have access to the debug god mod menu.
Keep up the great work. I feel that the price is right and I support this project.
