About

A little Chinese color, wherever you are. Pine blossom. Sky-water blue. Pomegranate skirt. In Chinese tradition, a color's name can hold an image of its own. Guose brings together 384 traditional Chinese colors, their names, poetry and cultural context—a quiet place to browse, read and find inspiration. MEET A COLOR Swipe up or down to discover the next color. Chinese color names, original verses and artistic illustrations share the screen. Tap to look closer and explore the color values and related reading. A WAY IN, IN ENGLISH Every one of the 384 colors includes an English color-name gloss and a short English introduction. The interface is available in English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. The Chinese names remain part of the visual experience. Poetry, original literary works and longer commentary remain in Chinese; they are not fully translated into English. Where available, open the original text, modern Chinese explanations and source notes. English glosses offer context, not standardized historical English names. FIND AND KEEP YOUR FAVORITES Browse by color family or the 24 solar terms. Search by Chinese name, pinyin, English color-name gloss, solar term or HEX value. Save colors to your favorites and return to them later. MAKE AN IMAGE YOUR OWN Long-press the home screen or open sharing from a color's details. Choose from six image formats, move or resize the artwork, and show or hide the text and artwork. Save to Photos or send an image through the system share sheet. English-mode images pair a horizontal English gloss with the Chinese name and original verse. OFFLINE, WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT Browsing, reading, search, favorites and image creation work offline. No registration, ads or tracking. Favorites and preferences stay on your device. Guose asks to add photos only when you save an image; it does not read your existing photos. Digital color values are references for screens and creative use, not definitive historical standards. Illustrations are artistic interpretations, not evidence of historical objects or materials. Opening external sources or using third-party sharing services may require an internet connection.
