Full of bugs

App says it sent a workout to Strava. Can’t find it anywhere. On top of that even though it will show stats on Apple Watch it can’t read my heart rate nor show it on the treadmill? In addition my treadmill workout is classified as mixed cardio in Apple Health and I can’t change it without deleting the workout and reinputting everything manually? Complete garbage.

Strava integration broke

Please fix it

New update stinks

New update stinks, can’t view any metrics on the phone during the workout, will apparently only record anything if you use the companion app on the watch, which also overrides anything else (Nike run club), and it won’t save workout history. All that showed up in my health kit app was start and pause… not even a fit file.

Strava no longer works

Sync to strava stopped working over a month ago. Gymtrakr still shows uploaded but Strava is not accepting or seeing these at all.

Which prevents syncing to Apple.

I figured the app was old but seeing the recent update makes me surprised the UI was updated but core functionality is still broken

Minimal

Very minimal and only ties to strava. What about Fitbit and google and other popular ones

Doesn’t Support HealthKit

This app is incredibly barebones. That, by itself, isn’t necessarily an issue. You can always use a different app to visualize your data or track trends. However, regardless of why the app description claims, it doesn’t actually support HealthKit. It does not write your activities to Health, so you can’t view your data there. You can export the data and then import it using an app to add it to Health, but who wants to do that? You can also export directly to Strava. Too bad neither Strava nor GymTrakr do any cleaning of the data. The data Strava shows won’t match what GymTrakr and your treadmill show. This is in addition to losing connection if you pause your workout.

The app hasn’t been updated in 3 years, so I don’t expect any of these issues will ever be addressed. Which is a shame, because this app is still advertised by True as their go-to app.

For anyone looking, Zwift works fine. But it’s annoying to use if you just want to export treadmill distance, speed, and incline data.

Stable, but Limited and Opaque

I’ve been using this app to track alongside other recorders and using it to “merge” the two files after the fact. It’s a janky setup but that’s not this App’s fault.

To start with the good: It’s pretty stable once its connected. The screens are super basic but data rich. I know that’s not what some people are here for, but it does what it says on the box: Tracks Your Work at the Gym. It works more consistently than Zwift, in my experience. Though I’m not sure where it lands vs Kinomap and the like. I don’t much like all the bells and whistles over there, though.

The bad:

One star removed for obscured metrics on screen? If you look at the resulting file, there are some metrics (say, on a treadmill or elliptical) that are not available as options in the GUI… why? You’re already going through the trouble of recording it. I liked the data. Why not let me see it during a workout?

Another star removed for the opposite: Metrics that ARE available during a workout, but not recorded… dude, what? Same question.

This could be NPE’s redemption after all the vaporware they’ve put out. It is a legitimately helpful and sturdy app that could be great. But they’re ghosts.

I like what you guys do. I love that you all care about standards compliance. Just like. Where are you? Why are you being so ghostly?

Doesn't work. Nobody cares. Bad app

Doesn't work. I connect to machine on Bluetooth in phone, but app never downloads history. Annoying. It does find my heart rate monitor but doesn't do jack else!

Can’t figure it out

My phone connected to the device through Bluetooth but when I go to the app absolutely nothing comes up. No option to search or anything

Won’t connect to new recumbent

You folks planning on updating this soon?

Doesn’t connect to Apple Health app

Despite what it claims in the app description, there is no integration with the Health app. So you can’t link your workouts to the fitness tracker.

Works well - no direct Apple Health support

Seems to work great, I’m pairing it with a Xebex Bike Erg and it works great to give me all the fields via Bluetooth FTMS. However doesn’t have a direct sync to Apple Health, it’s the only thing letting it down. It will get there via an upload to Strava and back to Apple Health, but that seems like an unnecessary flow - and as a result 4/5 stars.

Works up to a point

I find this app useful to record a time series of steps per minute on a stairmaster machine in my local gym. However, the app has a bug where the step count resets to 0 somewhere around 6000 to 7000 steps.

Make sure sensor is 1.2 cm from treadmill belt

I started experiencing the infamous sensor disruptions after accidentally kicking the sensor off its mount. After remounting the sensor would randomly disconnected. After trying different mounting heights. software reset and updates, I re-discovered that the user manual said I should mount it .6 to 1.2 cm from the belt. After following the instructions the sensor stopped disconnecting but the calibration is now more off than before resetting the software. Overall I can only blame myself for not following instructions. But the user experience is not great. If the sensor is only meant to be mounted .6 cm to 1.2 cm why is it possible to mount it higher or lower? It is a bit baffling.

New Treadmill, old app

Alright so I just bought a $4600 treadmill and this is the connected app to record workouts. This app send to be developed in 2007 with the launch of the iPhone. It’s absolutely horrendous and embarrassing for such a legit company to allow this to be their so. True needs to allow connectivity to Garmin. This app should be removed from the App Store because it’s so bad.

Inaccurate

First time user- It matched exactly what my treadmill said the whole time but once I stopped my workout, it added a minute to my mile time. Frustrating, as I intended to connect it for tracking speed progress and now it’s inaccurate.

Great app but needs some user options

I use GymTrakr often as the treadmills at my gym only connects with Apple watches and not my Garmin due to it’s ANT+ only communication. But it’s no problem with GymTrakr as it uses Apple compatible signal.
However, elevation data changes from feet to miles after a certain point, so you lose the precise footage data. Not good. User should be able to change this.
You can save workout data but not the elevation gain, this should also be fixed.
So in the meantime, I screenshot the data on the Iphone before quitting and saving so I can manually input data in Garmin and/or Strava.

Could be Good

Connects to my IC4 bike and reads all data, but can’t save or export anything. No support available

Not reliable

The app doesn’t save any data. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Made sure phone is updated anything that might cause issues.

Disappointing TRUE uses this

Connecting and recording is very hit or miss, although the app looks like it uses the very best in 1990’s technology. There are plenty of high school code-writing classes looking for a semester project the developers could use to rewrite this terrible app.
