About

Halal check for any food in seconds. Point your camera at the barcode — or straight at the ingredients list — and know if it's halal, haram or doubtful (mushbooh) before it goes in the basket. No account. No typing. No menus to learn. The camera is the app. A halal scanner for Muslims doing the weekly shop or travelling abroad: is it halal or not? See which ingredients, additives and E numbers are halal, haram or mushbooh — and why. HALAL OR HARAM — AND HONEST WHEN IT'S NOT SURE Other halal scanners guess. That's how pork gelatin ends up marked halal. This halal checker gives you four honest answers, not two: HALAL Every ingredient we could check is permissible. HARAM Contains something that isn't. We name the ingredient and explain why — like cochineal (E120), a red colouring made from insects. UNCERTAIN An ingredient could be plant or animal and the label doesn't say. We flag it and tell you what to check next. NOT CHECKED The product isn't in our records yet, or the label wouldn't read cleanly. We say so plainly. A gap is never shown as a pass. E NUMBERS AND ADDITIVES, EXPLAINED Gelatin (E441), carmine (E120), E471 emulsifiers, shellac (E904), lard, rennet, whey, alcohol in flavourings — every flagged ingredient comes with what it is, where it can come from and what the label would need to say. WHERE THE VERDICT COMES FROM The barcode scanner and label reader only find the ingredient names. The halal ruling comes from a sourced, auditable reference table of E numbers, additives and common ingredients, cross-referenced against bodies like IFANCA and the European Halal Certification Institute. The ruling is never an AI's guess. YOUR HALAL STANDARD Choose how strict the app is about flavourings: follow the major halal authorities (tiny alcohol traces from making flavourings are fine, as ruled by the OIC Fiqh Academy, MUI and MUIS) or Strict (any flavouring stays uncertain until the maker confirms). ASK THE MANUFACTURER When only the maker can answer, tap once and we write to them for you — and tell you when they reply. WHAT YOU CAN SCAN Packaged food, drinks, sweets, snacks and groceries. No barcode, or an import with a foreign one? Photograph the ingredients and the app reads them. When one shopper photographs a label, the next one gets the answer straight away. FREE, NO ADS, NO SCAN LIMITS • No login, and no paywall in front of the one thing that matters • Unlimited scans — no daily cap, ever • Your scan history stays on your device • In English, Arabic, French, German, Malay and Indonesian Spotted a mistake? Report it in one tap and we'll fix it for everyone. Best-effort guidance from sourced references — not a religious ruling or certification. When in doubt, check the packaging or ask someone knowledgeable.
