Hasn’t been updated in over 3 yrs

This game has incredible potential to be one of the best reading apps. Unfortunately it isn’t being updated and my children ran out of levels and became bored with it.

This is the best learn to read app

I purchased this app for my youngest child, who just turned four. I already have lots of experience teaching kids to read (my other two children are quite a bit older) but I don’t have the time and my youngest is super active so only using our Hooked on Phonics set wasn’t engaging enough or even doable now that I have two older kids with several activities between them.

This is exactly what I needed. There is no silly stuff like Homer (if I wanted my child to draw at every third activity I wouldn’t want a reading app) and though the repetition may seem extreme, my son is much more engaged with this app than Khan Kids, Leap Frog, or Homer. And though it is repetitive, he was already spelling rat and hat by the end of the first level. The first day he literally fell asleep on the sofa with it because he wouldn’t put it down.

The gamification is superb and perfect for the 4 to 6 year old. He is super excited to gain coins and buy stuff for his avatar. He is even more excited that he can form words on his own.

But best of all this is an app that isn’t loud, flashy or annoying. It is calm and it also doesn’t rush kids with constant prompts.

I know that even if this is all my child did, he would learn to start reading independently. However, the app can easily be coupled with Hooked on Phonics and other activities to make an even richer experience.

My son played this game for hours

This is one of the most amazing apps I have used, or that I have seen my son use. He played it for hours and then he said, daddy it’s kind a like I’m reading. He was having so much fun that he didn’t even know he was learning :-) I mean it’s just such a great game. I highly recommend it and the support is great too.

Finally... an amazing reading program.

In 4-6 weeks my daughter's phonological awareness has improved drastically. She has become not only a more confident reader but also more willing to write and successfully sound out words. In addition, her speech and articulation has improved as she is aware of what letters and blends sound like and more conscious of accuracy during conversational speech. I hope Hale's Tales continues to develop their program and expand it for older learners! Anne Heather - Epic Living

Completely Impressed Teacher

This is the best game I know of for helping young children get ready to read. The game is a perfect mix of calm yet engaging, meaningful but not overwhelming. I love the sequential teaching and built in intelligence so little ones get extra practice in the right areas. Completely impressed and highly recommend!
