User reviews

Good but Ugly

I have found the app very useful for building antennas. The GUI could use an update but this one gets 5 stars for functionality. Ugly on the outside, beautiful on the inside.

Not Bad

Needs to stay with the color blue and use new Roman letters for information.

Simple, does the job

The title tell the story quick and easy.

Good

I like the look and feel. I have not tried any wire antennas yet to see how accurate it is. The few frequencies that I know length of antenna the calculations seemed dead on seemed to be dead on.

I like to support hams doing development. I which we could get an NEC antenna modeling app on the iPad.

FAQ

What antenna types can HamAntCal+ calculate?

HamAntCal+ can calculate starting lengths for Dipoles, Inverted Vees, Verticals, and various fractional and full wave lengths. It covers a wide range of antenna configurations for amateur radio use.

What units of measurement does HamAntCal+ support?

The app supports calculations in feet/inches, feet with a decimal point, inches only (for lengths under 10 ft), and metric units. This flexibility ensures it meets the needs of users worldwide.

Can I adjust antenna calculations based on element diameter?

Yes, HamAntCal+ includes a diameter slider that allows you to enter antenna element diameters up to 1 inch. This helps adjust the calculated length for more accurate results based on the physical dimensions of your antenna.

How does HamAntCal+ handle Inverted Vee antenna calculations?

The Inverted Vee calculator in HamAntCal+ features a slider to adjust the angle of the ends above ground, ranging from 45 to 20 degrees. This accounts for the change in resonant frequency based on the antenna's configuration.

Does HamAntCal+ provide exact antenna measurements?

No antenna calculator can provide exact results in every situation. The app's calculations are a starting point, and users should always add extra wire and trim to the exact frequency using an antenna analyzer or SWR meter after installation.

What is the frequency range supported by HamAntCal+?

The Dipole, Vertical, and general Length calculators support frequencies from 30 KHz to 500 MHz. The Inverted Vee calculator has a maximum frequency of 60 MHz.

How often is HamAntCal+ updated?

The app was last updated on June 29, 2020, with version 1.5.5. Previous updates have included optimizations for newer devices like the iPhone X and added features like the Inverted Vee height slider.

What is the price of HamAntCal+?

HamAntCal+ is a paid application priced at $1.99. There are no in-app purchases or advertisements, offering a straightforward utility experience.
