I’m eight and I can do this make it harder
I LOVE THIS GAME WITH EVERY BONE IN MY BODY
So I’m 14 years old and unschooled and I’m going into high school after skipping every grade after 5th. I have identified myself with being a person who HATES math, because I was horrible at it.
I would cry behind my math In 5th grade math class, because I had no idea what I was doing! I have adhd and generalized anxiety, so I was incredibly scared that once I went to high school I would be extremely behind in math.
I tried everything, books websites, my parents tried to teach me!
My dad showed me this game and after one lesson I already felt wayyyyyy more confident!
After one month of doing this I’m already for algebra 2 in high school!
After each lesson I end up laughing with my dad and more comfortable with myself and my intelligence. As a unschooler it is common to feel dumb and defeated in school smarts.
I truly truly mean it when I say that this game changed my life!
What differs it from regular schools is that instead of telling you the rules and telling you to follow them, it teaches you WHY the rules are even THERE and then tells you to follow them!
I have ONE suggestion:
I would love it if after I finished all the lessons it would teach me how to do the problems without the props:)
My dad can teach me how to do it but it would be more convenient if the app did it.
100% WOULD RECOMMEND

Meh
Great app, good for learning, but one problem. When you try to type in your answer through the wheel with all of the numbers, the numbers don’t show up. You can’t see them.
Videos don’t play
The videos don’t play on this app like they do on the other 2 apps.

At least it teaches!
See, with hands on equations, I love it! It helps students learn, but they need to add the extra practice problems! Some students are forgetting about the importance of math! Math is what life is upheld by! So i can say, one little thing, can lead to a bigger thing. >:(
Super app
Excellent explanations given with very concrete methods to solve difficult equations. I love the visuals which allow me to "see" the problem. I hope to see many more apps available from hands on soon. - fractions?
Hands on Equations
This is a great app! The lessons are easy to understand and the examples are easy to follow. My son and I have learned a lot without being frustrated in the process. This app is well worth the money.

Some bugs
Does not always show totals have tried reloading but problem persists. Otherwise, very helpful and hope for continuation of this series.

My students fight to get to use the one iPad I have in the classroom to reinforce the manipulative version we use in class. Only one problem, my students with disabilities have problems using the wheel. It would be helpful if they could use the keyboard or a "click (touch) and drag" like you do with the pieces on level one.

Great supplement
I can't wait to use this app with my students. The videos are great to help students who were absent for the original lesson or for students who need to review a lesson. Having the manipulatives for the students to practice with on the iPad is crucial to applying the concept. I will be buying the level 2 app to use now with my 5th graders.

Great app to teach algebra!
I love how he explains algebra! Math was always my favorite subject in school, but it came naturally to me so I had a hard time explaining why things work. Now I can help my fifth grader learn all about algebra without the stress. Thanks!
I Love HOE!!!
I've been using the physical version of HOE for fifteen years, and these new apps have added to my tool kit. Not only do this kids love it, but every teacher I show the apps to instantly wants to go get them for herself. Thank you for providing a new version of a classic tool!
Great App!
Having worked with Hands on Equations I and II, I was excited to work with students on level III! This app along with the others allows me to give students the option of using the the iPad or the manipulatives to work the problems out! I can use the level III to extend many fifth grade students!
Great math app!
This is a great supplement or alternative to the full hands on equation program!
Disappointing
I was not very happy with this app, particularly the lessons on negative numbers.
