Great game but needs a pinyin toggle
The mechanics are almost ideal: draw random cards, build increasingly elaborate sentences, and earn points for grammatical complexity.
But the English underneath every card makes it difficult to immerse yourself in Chinese. I'd want pinyin underneath the hanzi on the cards available when needed, and English hidden unless requested.
I especially like that Hanzi Combo rewards creative, ridiculous sentences instead of requiring one predetermined answer.
I wonder whether the developer would consider adding a display toggle. It could be as simple as:
汉字 (hànzì) — Characters only
汉字 + 拼音 (hànzì + pīnyīn) — Characters and pinyin
汉字 + 英文 (hànzì + Yīngwén) — Characters and English
That one change would make the game substantially more useful for intermediate learners.
And I'd love a fourth option: pinyin hidden until you tap a card, so you can test your reading before revealing the pronunciation.
