Battery drainer

That should be the name of this app "Battery Drainer". If you forget to delete it from memory every single time you use it, it will run in the background and drain your battery. Fast. There is no option to turn this background activity off. It's a shame cause it's quite a decent ear training app.

Amazing.

I’ve spent years not actively doing any ear training and not thinking it even necessary as a musician. This app has shown me the depths of my ignorance. It has exercises for beginners to experts and in between and is feature rich so you won’t ever get lost in theory. After using this app for a month, I have progressed in my practice and my recognition of sounds, intervals, chords and progressions has matured. Like anything, ear training takes practice. But I wouldn’t want to practice any other way.

Awesome (the best I’ve tried) but...

It would be perfect if there was an enharmonics enabling feature for display and answers. Then I would give it 5 stars. Thanks!

Response from developer

Hi! That’s definitely a feature I’d be open to exploring, but I’m not sure I understand exactly what you mean. Can you email me at info@harmonomicsapp.com?

A tuner ... for your self!!

As a player that has a decent to above average ear- using relative pitch (... my own self appraisal based on considerably accurate transcriptions I’ve done of works or solos from instruments that are both my own and other instruments ; real-time response to harmonic or melodic stimuli within live improvised playing situations ), I find this app really challenging and fun. You can chart your progress and see your challenges. For example : it is interesting to see that i consistently has problems correctly identifying perfect fourths or fifths - as I would get confused of the vantage point and incorrectly identify one for the other and the inverse - a problem of perspective.
The categories of exercises cover a wide array of ways to qualify one’s current aptitude and offer alternative approaches for assessing material with a healthy range of criteria across the intervallic ; melodic and harmonic spectrum. I found this app at a great time in my musical development and I find anytime spent using it to be of value and generative. It can be a little stressful to know a timer is ticking as you hesitate to produce an answer ; along with being a little bummed when you see your score ( if it’s less than what you’d like it to be), but it is an honest and somewhat objective proof of where your ear is at for the moment. There is a self imposed emphasis I’ve placed on have deep stuff to play or say musically ( and I’m sure that will continue )... but all that pursuit only stands to benefit from returning to something fundamental and crystallize a further attenuation with arguably the most basic aspect : how I listen.

So easy

Really, really useful app. I saw improvement right away.

Fantastic, but other keys please!

Great app, but some of the functions (diatonic major melody, for instance) are only available in C major. When doing these sort of exercises, I like to imagine myself playing along on my instrument. It’d be great to have other keys to practice in.

Pas de son !!!

Ce qui n’est juste pas possible pour ce genre d’appli. Obligée d’éteindre et rallumer mon tel pour que ça fonctionne. Malheureusement ça n’a pas duré et je n’ai déjà plus de son.

I'd love to try to help you with this issue, but unless you email me (info@harmonomicsapp.com) I have to way to work with you to diagnose the issue. Get in touch and I will try to help.

Absolutely brilliant

I’ve only been working with this for a day and can already report that, while there are some other helpful ear-training apps...and I have tried many this is hands-down the best one! The thoughtfulness, planning, organization, and intuitiveness that went into this is hugely impressive. It’s a serious app- not a toy. It literally can be used to train and help the very beginner to the experienced professional. Bravo!

The fact that the exercises are open -ended is great... meaning you simply end a session when you want rather than having the app choose a predetermined number of questions. You will need no other ear training apps. Just get this one if you are lucky enough to stumble on it.

My only complaint.. which isn’t really a complaint against the app itself is that for me it didn’t come up high enough when I did a simple search for “ear training” apps.. then I found it briefly and then accidentally closed out then searched through dozens of (far weaker) ear-training apps.. hoping it would appear on the “you may also like” lists. Thankfully I found it again after 20-39 min but this should be the first option to appear! Get it !!

Fantastic

This app is brilliant for ear training. The exercises are laid out methodically and the hands free option means the ear training without tiring the eyes looking at the screen. Highly recommended.

Relative pitch, perfect pitch, chords, progressions, scales, so good

This app is the best for ear training. It should be a required app for amateur and professional musicians. I was just wanting an one octave relative pitch app. This is so much more even with perfect pitch. I like the awards as well. I’ve gotten 60% to 90% on one’s I’ve tried. I’ve just begun and didn’t think I had a very good ear. I love this app so much, thank you for making it. This app is a steal at this price.

10/10

This is by far the best ear training app I’ve found. I’m a professional jazz musician and there’s plenty here that I find difficult. Along with exercises you’d find in other apps like intervals and perfect pitch, there are exercises exploring chords with extensions (not necessarily in root position), chord progressions and melodies against chords. All the exercises are completely customisable, so no matter what your skill level there’ll be something here for you.

Almost there!

Killer app! However, on some chromatic exercises, you can’t hit the “B note BC the “Show” and “next” button take off the sensor. Would love to see that fixed. Otherwise, keeps me challenged!!

Major audio issues

I have been trying to like this but the Bluetooth issues are pretty bad. I cannot play hands free mode over Bluetooth. All of my other audio play through Bluetooth fine except this one. Also, other audio apps such as Spotify and Podcasts open up in conjunction with this one. When I turn them off, both apps shut down. This sometimes happens through headphones as well. I got this because got the reviews it got but if this is the case I want a refund. I gave it two stars because when it works it’s a great app. Oh, and don’t bother trying to get a hold of the guy. The email he provides doesn’t work! Bunk.

The best ear training app available

This is the best ear training app I've found on the App Store. I started ear training about 6 months ago and I've purchased about 7 ear training apps. I've searched the App Store several times and for some reason I had never seen this one before. This one is the most comprehensive and includes many features I had been looking for, but haven't found in other apps.

The hands free mode is a must for me. For my work I do a lot of driving. The other hands free apps I've found are very limited with the options and I started to hit some plateaus.

Honestly, for the price this app is a steal. You'd have to buy several apps to get all the features of this one, and you'd still be missing some functionality.

Best ear training app

BY FAR the best ear training app I've ever used, and trust me I've used a lot. Perfect for jazz musicians and people looking to further their ear. Killin

Solid, great for beginners or professionals -- a good deal

I am delighted with this well-designed set of aural skills practice tools! I've had it over a year, use it regularly and have benefited from it. A tremendous range of user-tailor able exercises are included. The flexibility in the setting controls it offers is motivating and more complete than in similar apps I've tried. The designer is a professional performing musician and his seriousness and depth of expertise is evident in the design and range of what is included. He also keeps improving the app and is responsive to questions/suggestions. Recommended!

Best Ear Trainer

I've been through almost all of the ear training apps in the App Store and this is by far the most comprehensive and versatile app. It's fairly jazz focused, which I like, but it has endless challenging exercises that are sure to stretch the ears of any musician.

Musicians' Must Have

This thing is helpful in so many ways. It's worth even 10 times the price. At current price it's a bargain. You've got to grab this if you're a serious musician. PS: a small glitch in perfect pitch exercise tho.

Unintuitive

This is one of the most confusing and unintuitive ear training up I have an encountered. There are so many better ear training apps on the App Store. I have tried many ear training apps and all although this has many functions they are all poorly implemented. I can't believe I spent seven dollars on this.
