Great community (discord) and game

Love idle games and this has scratched my itch for months and I believe it will continue to do that for the foreseeable future for sure

Response from developer

Thank you for the review! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the game, and hope you enjoy future updates!

Grabbed me and won’t let go

This game… what can I say? One hell of an active community, a developer that listens and acts on player feedback, and a brilliant idle game that, as the title states, grabbed me and won’t let go!

Been playing for just under a year, watching and enjoying the game growing.

Big up Soup, big up the Discord, and big up Harpagia :)

Playing for months

Great game. Been playing for months. There’s IAPs, but everything can be earned in game. I would recommend some of the QOL IAPs to support the dev though. Over the past 6 months that I’ve played the devs has added a ton, including a new skill (archeology), more battle modes, and even trading. Really excited to see what else they have planned.

Fun game with a lot of systems

Reminds me a little bit of Melvor Idle but not as complex and certainly not as well documented. Purchased an Adventure Pack and it seems to be device locked and cannot be used on the account with multiple devices. Not sure if this is intended or not as I’m not going to purchase that twice.

I think considering this is a solo developer this is a great start and I look forward to its development.

Some criticisms:

Cloud saves are not ideally implemented. This means you can really only play on one device which is limiting if you want to use a tablet sometimes and a phone other times while traveling. Since it is meant for offline play, worrying about exploits is inconsequential.

Some of the systems are convoluted without clear understanding of how they impact the game. More descriptions should be included.

UI for battle screen is odd as I have to click on the skill I’m actively levelling (I.e. defence) in order to see its true level else it shows be the combined level with equipment. This is a basic stat and an adventure pack should not be required to see it on the battle screen without clicking on a skill.

If purchases are for a device only they should clearly state that they are not account-wide (unless of course this is unintended).

There are a lot of menus and nested menus. I understand this will be challenging due to the nature of the game too, but it is a bit confusing at times to navigate. Consider a tablet mode as well that would allow a more intuitive UI with landscape mode an option.

Like Melvor but different

Do you like UI based idle games in the style of Melvor? If so you should try this out, its quite good.

Good online grind of skills but…

It was mentioned in other reviews, but battling should be doable offline. To combat the way the other skills grind offline where you can go from 1 to 100 if you left it alone long enough, perhaps cap the experience you can gain? The other thing that is frustrating is the insight mini game. You have to guess a code with the code getting longer and longer depending on the level. It will tell you how many numbers are in the right spots vs the wrong, but it doesn’t tell you which ones are in the correct spots as far as I can tell. So it is basically still random as to guessing the code. Very frustrating seeing you have 4/6 right, not knowing which 4, and then your next 5 guesses are all worse guesses because of it.

Remove The Mini Games From Important Skills

Game absolutely slows progress on skill gains unnecessarily. You have to play mini games that shouldn’t be needed to improve certain skills; including Scholar egregiously, as that skill increases your general exp gains. Imbibing - which has a ticket requirement as the ONLY skill that has a set resource cost, is redundant by using monster points to make your potion count infinite. It does increase effect, in decimal point values, so YMMV. You WILL find skill gains for battling take HOURS for one level past level 50. And the best gear takes 151 to 175 levels of X stat (plus resource costs - so levels in Mining & Forging are hard required) which boils down to it being very defeating. If you could JUST grind each skill without pointless add ons; even at slow rates for scholar & Zen, it’d be a marked improvement. The way it stands seems more like you want players to pay for X convenience.

Echo dungeon

Please fix bug with add at echo dungeon can’t receive rewards

Response from developer

Some regions (including Russia) may have limited or blocked access to ads due to external restrictions from the ad provider. Because of this, ads may not load or reward properly. This isn’t a bug with the game, and it’s not something I can control or override. If ads are available, the “Remove Ads” purchase allows you to receive rewards without watching ads. However, availability of purchases may also vary by region.

Good Until Recent Ad Update

Fun game with great depth. Unfortunately the latest update made watching ads a requirement to do daily battle missions. Pretty sad as I have already spent $10 on the game for the pass and now I would have to still watch an ad every day if I want to do all the daily missions.

Response from developer

Thank you for the feedback and for supporting the game with the Adventure Pass. The daily mission is tied to claiming the free Echo Dungeon challenge token, which is intended as an optional bonus rather than required progression. I've tried to keep ad-based rewards limited and non-intrusive, while ensuring all core content remains accessible without them.

Opinion of a non-gamer

As a non-gamer who usually finds mobile apps overwhelming, Harpagia is a great fit for me. It strikes a balance of consistently rewarding game play but refreshingly lacks the addictive gimmicks that would normally lead me to burn out on it. It’s a perfect game to play at your leisure without demanding constant attention.

Response from developer

Thank you for the thoughtful review! This is actually one of the core goals I had when designing Harpagia. I wanted to create a game that rewards long-term progress without demanding constant attention or relying on aggressive engagement tactics. I'm glad it's been a good fit for your playstyle, and I appreciate the support!

Accessibility?!?!

The in-game font is tiny. This game is totally inaccessible to anyone with less than perfect eye sight. There’s a complete lack of any setting to make the font size any bigger.

Fun game for busy people

Great game to have in the background easy to pick up and play then put down

Heavy in game purchases required

$140 to $240 of required in game purchases to unlock the charms and auracle.

Charms are really not feasible to get via “luck “. Theres one that doubles all xp. Without it you’re playing the game at half speed. Requires a school score of 15. Over 200 or so tedious minigames the max possible score is 9-11 in most games. 13 was possible in only 2-3 games. Its not skill its luck (well under 1% of games) if the score is even possible.

Expect many many hours in tedious mini games for luck or to have to spend $200 to even play the game as designed.

Begging??

Why is the method for grinding gold Begging? Can’t we have honest employment? Questing/Adventuring? Anything, that isn’t just being a freeloader on society?

Great game

Loving this game, by far one of the best games of this style I have played.

My go to idle game

Solo dev very much in touch with players via discord and the community is very friendly.

Optimized & Has Depth

Incredibly well optimized, I've had the game open for nearly an hour and lost only 2% battery. Great depth in each skill, great variety of tasks, always have things to do. Each grind feels like it has weight & the correct balance of rarity & abundance. With how much info can be presented on one page, i'm impressed on how concise & digestible it is. Could recommend this to anyone from a beginner to a completionist.

A few social features down the road like user profiles/'players in this area:' & I'd consider this one of the best mobile idle 'MMO's by far!
