Setting need to save

If you switch away fry the app but it’s still open in the background when you switch back it reverts to C harmonica. Should stay on what you had set A for example but it doesn’t. Makes it frustrating because you have to select harp key again.

HarpNinja Diatonic

This is a useless app a total waste of money! Basically it does nothing.

Potential but flawed

I got this based on David Barrett’s recommendation. It has functionality but needs work.

Here’s two major flaws:

The controls are a problem. Changing the key is poorly designed with the controls in such small shapes and located too closely.

There’s no support for low tuned harmonicas.

Response from developer

Hi Jeff, I'm sorry you are having issues with it. Could I ask what device you are using it on? Many people use it across different devices so I'm unsure exactly what you mean. >>The controls are a problem. Changing the key is poorly designed with the controls in such small shapes and located too closely. The key is changed in the settings via the circular scroll control. You have to press and scroll up or down. I have users in Android and iOS smartphones who seem to have no issues with this. I will, however, look into increasing touch targets for future versions. >>There’s no support for low tuned harmonicas. There is support for low tuned harmonicas. If you look in settings you can check the "low tuning" checkbox to set the pitch recognition an octave down. I would appreciate it if you could re-rate the app in accordance with these facts. However, if you still find it unsuitable I would strongly urge you to apply to Apple for an immediate refund. Best, Paul

Confusing to use

I’m a idiot when it comes to music and I had no idea how to use this app. I thought it would be simple and tell me what I was playing.

Response from developer

I'm sorry you are having issues with it Admiral Akabar, but I can assure you this is no trap. Firstly, HarpNinja is NOT a harmonica teaching app. It's a tool to use alongside whatever harmonica teaching method you are using. It's does that by providing focused feedback on your pitch control and helping build your mental model. There are many tutorials for HarpNinja here https://harpninja.com/video-help/ . Although they are for an older version the principles are more or less the same. . Start the app - defaults to Key C and major tuning . Use the setting tab to configure it for the key, tuning, and scales you wish. You will need some basic music theory knowledge. If it's too much and you don't find it useful I suggest getting a refund from Apple.
