Why after spending $1K plus on this SONY product would anyone by another Sony product??? No updated drivers, can’t use transfer software, etc…. Nice paper weight I own! Thanks SONY!
Great app if Sony can update the app
Use HDD Audio Remote app for many years, nice user interface, a lot of music information and nice graphics on the screen. Everything great. If Sony can update the app and add other music streaming service would be perfect.

Agree with terrible app
Love the player but it’s rendered almost useless when the connectivity to the app interface with it is so terrible. And it’s been this way for years! Can it really be that hard for a huge company to offer this small consolation???!!
Would like to see cover art wall
App works the way it should although would like to see cover art wall. With a huge library it takes a while to scroll to the bottom and the cover art is really small. With a wall art view mode you would probably see 20-30 albums. Just saying it would be nice to navigate the albums a little easier.
Needs an update
Struggles to connect with the newer routers with dual bands. Needs an update for your loyal users. Please!
Inconsistent
In most places, it uses the track title from the ID3 tag, but in the play queue, it uses the file name, truncated at a certain number of characters. So I am looking at my play queue and all I see is “Moscow Symphony Orc” all the way down the screen. It should be using the track title, but given how slap-dash the whole experience is with this player, I am not surprised.

A great player that was designed with a useless UI. So one would think that the app was designed to be the critical interface. Unfortunately the app is super unreliable and connectivity is dodgy at best. Build a decent WiFi connection or a reliable app. The great player is mostly useless as a result

Worked well for a while...now seems fixed
Worked pretty well for a while , but now won’t connect to the player and is useless. At least it worked long enough for me to load my library and select a bunch of favorites. Still, very frustrating.
Update: app started to work again this morning after taking “a day off.” One more star for coming back to work!
Has been stable for a long time now, so that’s great. Considering the competition, this app is actually pretty good.

Connectivity Issues
I absolutely love my HAP Z1-ES and enjoy the remote app...when it works. It’s a great app with an intuitive interface, but has not been connecting to the player with increasing frequency. Sometimes in connects and then when you try to change songs or artists it can’t find the deck and won’t reconnect - forcing me to walk to the HAP Z1-ES to change selections. Super irritating. I have generally really appreciated Sony products over the years but this app has a fatal flaw. Shocking that Sony has not addressed the issue.

Old version better
This new version of HDD Audio is terrible, the old version worked great. This one won’t connect to HAP-S1 player. The player itself is wonderful but this remote access is bad
App needs to reconnect ALL THE TIME
Hard to use this app with the HAP Z1-ES... it is constantly needing to Reconnect. Can Sony figure out how to keep it connected while the app is running?
As al alternative to the HDD Player and HAP Z1-ES, I use Roon, and it tales less than 1/8 of a sec to reconnect. The HDD take almost 5 seconds to connect.
Digital audio is a pain-in-the-butt, and the HDD and HAP-Z1ES was suppose to fix that....

Window Prompts
On several of the window prompts, to confirm certain actions, for example, you cannot see the graphics for “Yes” and “No.”

Unfortunately the app is very temperamental as to whether it will find the player and without it it is very hard to navigate on the actual hardware. Sony really needs to address this
Love It!
The corresponding Sony unit has liberated the beautiful music in piles of CDs that were collecting dust, has aggregated them in full resolution to a single media server, and this app gives me immediate access.
Most recent update causes connection issues
Everytime I load the app it now has connection problems. It cant find the Hap-S1. Close app, shut off hap, turn on and it finds it. I never had an issue before this remote update. Hap-S1 is also up to date with current firmware.

Unreliable. Rarely works.
Great apps
Most reviews here 1,2 years old . As of today 2018. This apps works great, people complaining about wifi it please set it to 2.4 and make sure you get good router .
Even a laptop people still get problem with connection. I think it is human errors.
Only thing I like to see the the improvements on the unit is add tidal and other things but the review here for apps not unit.
