HealthyHoods

HealthyHoods is a citizen science project jointly run by researchers from Denmark, Latvia, and The Netherlands. The project was developed to address healthy habits by focusing on opportunities for food and physical activity within one’s own living environment. The app facilitates capturing aspects in the neighborhood that either facilitate or hinder a healthy lifestyle. Collected data are used in a community-based approach, involving local stakeholders and citizens, to jointly create innovative solutions to increase citizens’ knowledge and awareness of healthy lifestyles and supportive processes by public and private stakeholders.  This Joint Program Initiative is funded by the European Union and supported by grants from ZonMw, Innovation Fund Denmark, and the Latvian Council of Science. The HealthyHoods App is running on the SPOTTERON Citizen Science Platform at www.spotteron.net.
