Fast developer response time

App crashed on launch when I first got it. Left a review about it and - what do you know - it works not two days later!

Does not work with Apple Music

App sees some songs in Apple Music library but does not allow you to play any of them. No errors, song isn’t even selected. App is ineligible for refund. Don’t waste your money.

Useless without upgrade to subscription

Will allow me to import local files on iPad and EQ that is on basic version is off and useless. Waste of time and money! Not any real setup options

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Search up “Technical Ear Trainer” there’s a free site that does everything this does but better and with more features. No purchases no crap.

The only downside is that it only works on laptop, but it’s soooo much better.

Hey, thanks for getting in touch. Just to clarify any misunderstanding, hearEQ is fully functional without any additional purchases. That includes a full 10-band EQ, built-in tracks, two different gain options, custom quizzes, a learn mode, and more. There is a Premium EQ package available which offers some additional features for advanced users, such as a 30-band EQ, but this is completely optional—and certainly not necessary to start building some serious ear training skills! Guess the EQ

This test checks to see if you can spot the change in EQ. I started off scoring 2 out 10 questions correctly. I stayed with for about 15 minutes and soon I was scoring 5 out of 10 questions correctly. This does work and what’s more it focuses on my inability to correctly answer low EQ questions correctly. Most questions that were high-frequency based I could spot fast, but low-frequency based questions I still struggle with so that’s important feedback for me. Tells me which area of the frequency spectrum where I need to pay attention. Great product!

Would love to reference my own tracks from library

But nothing ever plays. Says 19 protected and 504 available. Nothing works after trying many though. Shame as seems a good but buggy app.

You should be able to access any non-protected tracks that are on your device (unfortunately it seems we're prevented from doing any processing to Apple Music or other cloud-hosted tracks), but if there are any issues with that then drop me an email at alex[at]tenkettles[dot]com and we'll get you up and running ASAP! This app is great!

This is one of the best ways to improve your ability to recognize frequencies. PERIOD! It’s accurate and affordable! My only complaint is that it’s not available for computers.😔

Just what I need

Heard about this app training from a friend. Really need it. Always playing solo acoustic gigs and the mix sounds horrible. Or I buy a pedal or a mixer to save the day and it just makes it worse. Using this training I hope to figure out what needs adjusted up or down so I can give my performance some much needed clarity. Scoring 3 out of 12 on Day1 so I definitely need it.

I think I’m having a problem

I just purchased this app hoping to use it with my personal Apple Music library but something doesn’t seem to be working. Does this app not work with Apple Music streaming? Only about 3 songs from my Apple Music library are showing up. I’m very confused and would really like the app to work as it should. Any developer help?

Hey, thanks for the review and sorry to hear about the frustration. I responded to your email just a few hours after you sent it, so hopefully that made its way over to you as well. Re: using cloud services in hearEQ, Apple actually prevents processing of their Apple Music tracks, hence why apps (including hearEQ) can't make these available for EQing. Agreed that it's frustrating as I'd love to support Apple Music. As I wrote in the email, I do try to make this clear in the app page description—and it's also a big motivation for shipping the app with built-in tracks. In any case, this is something I've been keeping my eye on, so if Apple changes it's stance (or other options become available to EQ these tracks) I'd love to add Apple Music support to hearEQ. Absolute Lifesaver

This app is awesome– it’s the only one I’ve seen that quizzes you on boosts AND cuts and it’s so easy to use your own music. It’s best if you don’t use phone speakers, I do it in my car and with headphones. It’s super fun and easy to do for a long time. My ear has noticeably improved. The price is insanely worth it if you’re dedicated to improving your mixes. This is a company that obviously cares for musicians– hearEQ, beat mirror, and Waay are all such valuable tools for improving your ear and musicianship. Genuinely, thank you!!
