App is dead

I’ve always cut this app some slack because of the funding model but it’s hasn’t worked in at least a week. Seems like you should engage with your community to make this app better. The knowledge is out there

App doesn’t work

The app isn’t working and the website just directs you to the app. Can’t listen to music. Very frustrating

Worth the money

I balked at paying for a subscription but I’m so glad I did. So many programs, so conveniently organized, with fantastic features for browsing and making playlists. Nothing else like it. Don’t hesitate. Sign up and support real human radio curation and peaceful music like this !

Best Ambient Music Available and SUPPORT

I purchased this app along with a number of other ambient music apps, and originally I didn’t get much out of this one because the way it works is quite unique. I called for assistance when I needed to get it running properly on my Sonos and home systems. I got an immediate callback, followed by the best instruction I’ve ever received from any app support, from someone who clearly loved their job. Now that I understand this app’s channels and programs, it is running full time. The music is gorgeous.

Great Music - Future Apple Watch Compatibility?

I love listening to hearts of space- I used to listen to the radio broadcast in my former city, but hadn’t been able to find a local station after moving. I’m subscribed to the standard plan and I like how many options it gives me each week to listen to new (to me) broadcasts. I don’t know if there’s potential for an Apple Watch version of the app, but I would love to be able to play HoS music through it (even if limited to the weekly broadcasts or specific playlists). I leave my phone at home a lot to cut down on screentime, but HoS is one app I miss when I do.

Best show ever! App is great but has a few minor quirks.

I have been listening to HOS since the late 1980s. It is honestly an important part of my life and I am a huge fan of the show. I have been using the app for a long time, maybe a decade? I use the app on my phone, iPad, and Mac Mini. Overall it has been fantastic and I give it a five out of five. The layout is excellent and intuitive. The ability to add favorite programs with stars is nice and so is the surprise me feature.I think it is a very nice app overall.

My love of the show notwithstanding, there are three minor issues/bugs I have experienced with the MacOS app. First, sometimes when I hit play on a show, the app will tell me it is open in another window when it is not. If I hit play again, it continues without issue. That is such a minor issue I don't really mind. Second, sometimes I’d like to add a song to a playlist. On my machine this is buggy - if I click “…” on top right to try to add a program to my playlist, as I begin to mouse over to the “Add to Playlist” that pops up, the window disappears! My workaround is to use the browser or the iOS/iPadOS apps.

A more curious bug involves the voiceover feature. I love Stephen Hill's narratives, but sometime I am in the zone and want just the chill music. So I select the "Voiceover Off" button. Oddly, if I reboot my Mac Mini, when the app reopens after boot the voiceover has been set to on. If I try to flip it to off, I see a notificaiton about subscribing. To work around this I can open Settings / General / Window Size and select the radio thst isn't currently selected, one of "Smaller" or "Larger (default)". Upon selection, I see a popup to relaunch app. It reopens with the selected size window - and now the warning about voiceover off has disappeared and I can set to off. (I discovered this approach by experimenting after the "HOS / Quit HOS" option failed to close the app after a reboot...)

So basically I have to disable voiceover after every system reboot. It's a small price to pay for the greatest show ever. Still - if any devs are reading this, maybe you can look into it.

Otherwise, fantastic app and best show ever! I highly recommend!

Listening since college

When I was in college back in the early 2000’s I remember catching some kind of show they referred to as “space music.” I didn’t know the name of the show, only that it aired on Sundays at 11pm on my NPR station. Years later I stumbled onto the name Hearts of Space in my dorm room in college. From “Celtic Legacy” to “Thursday Afternoon,” I was a fan from those late night study sessions listening to HOS in the background. Thanks to the app, I can relive all those great moments! And the prices for the monthly memberships are fantastic! LOVE THE APP!

Question

Did you remove the ability to turn off the voiceover? Update: you keep removing features unless people subscribe. It’s one thing to offer incentives to subscribe but you keep taking things away that used to be available with basic service. It’s really disappointing.

According to HOS I can turn off the voiceover in the mini player but when I try to do so I get a message saying to please subscribe in order to access features like turning off voiceover.

Response from developer

We have never taken away a feature. We've moved the setting to a more convenient place. Tap the "mini player" at the bottom of most pages to expand the player. See VOICEOVER in the lower right corner of the expanded player. It's got 3 states -- ON (intro and outro) -- Intro (only) -- OFF (No intro or outro, just music). Keep tapping the Voiceover button to get to the setting you want. Enjoy!

App has improved

I’m glad to see the app has improved. I hope they continue it. There are still a few rough edges - like it stops streaming occasionally - but worth using.

This app is great for devotees of Hearts of Space

Weekly programs of ambient, electronic, new age, world, and other music based on a theme. I have been a listener since the first program. After getting a full subscription, this app gives you complete access to the whole repertoire.

The current version now supports CarPlay!!!

I also use this app on my Mac with Apple Silicon.

Word

Like so many others, I’ve d this Channel before it was a channel and have surely found so many great artists playing this genre of great music utilizing technology to get some great and interesting sounds, grooves, and at times haunting melodies.

That being said, and I’m now going to dive super deep into Nerd-dom,…

I’d love to have a widget of HOS (large) on my phone. 🤓🤓🤓✌🏽✌🏽🤣

Thanks for the love and appreciation! I've posted your request for a widget for our developer. Will let you know when we have one for you! Thanks for the suggestion.

OMG can they get app to work??? Ever?

Please
Get this app to work!
Fully subscribed and every time I try to launch it asks me to subscribe.

Love the Music & Show - hate the app

Even though I purchased full year subscription and have receipt stating such, the app constantly asks me to sign up for subscription. Keep reloading app. Nothing helps.
Even though receipt says I purchased full subscription, app doesn’t give me full subscription benefits.

Love the music and shows.

Hi, Regie, we'd love to help you with this. It's a navigation issue, not a technical error. Most likely you subscribed to Standard service, which is limited to play of THIS WEEK's show and the 132 shows in our 11 CHANNELS, including the 12 MOST RECENT programs. When you venture outside those areas, you may browse (look at) the other programming and play 30 second samples of it, but you will be asked to upgrade or subscribe to play music there. We'd love to help you personally. But we can't if you don't contact us. We've tried to find your account, but we can't identify you from the information here. Please email support@hos.com and we'll help you with this immediately. It's an easy fix. Apologies for the difficulty.

Love it

Love Hearts of Space (wearing the long-sleeve tee right now! Enjoy the journey!) Love the app

Only thing I don’t love is support for AirPlay but not casting audio to Android devices. There are just too many of those around (aside from cost of Apple audio doodads) for this to be a good idea.

My workaround is an app called Replica which is normally for screen mirroring but also will “screen” audio to eg a Chromecast Audio, of which I have a bunch. But it’s a hacky, fiddly fix. iOS apps aren’t prevented from casting - Pandora et al do it fine. Please, from the far universe, supplement AirPlay with audio casting

HOS Love

Love the music, love the app. Such a fantastic library. This has mellowed out many a lovely evening.

App works 50% of time

Half of the time, this user receives error message asking to subscribe even though have a paid subscription through March 2024. Love the music and content but the technical issues far outweigh the cost of this expensive app (for us business innovation and improvement geeks, not a great consumer return on investment).

HOS is a real treat for the soul and mind

I have been a long time listener and found this program on the local WFYI radio station in Indianapolis Indiana, Sundays at 10pm and I never missed. Then, I moved away and was sad until I discovered the app. I didn’t mind the old version, but the new version is much better. HOS brings me new music I would have never found otherwise, and has been a real treat over the years. Don’t forget to purchase a coffee mug for those cold, rainy days. Stephen Hill and the rest of the HOS team, THANK YOU.
