Absolute trash
The classification is hilariously inaccurate. It’s had eight chances and still can’t identify a sparrow correctly a single time. Bird identification is a solved problem, these developers are just cheap and incompetent. Since it doesn’t have that feature, you might as well just use a ring camera.
AI needs support
I agree camera is fine but AI is ludicrous. It’s naming the same bird as some indigenous to Hawaii or even extinct! It plays Russian roulette with Wikipedia.

Terrible app!
The bird camera refuses to read the QR code. There is no tech support. Likely returning this for a better product.
Cool concept
Love the idea of feeder with camera and app identification. Thought it would make a great Father’s Day present or be good for bird watchers! Very fun app!
Bird ID is so bad, it’s funny
I use this more for watching what birds come to our feeders. Thankfully I can identify our birds because it can’t even pick up on a cardinal. It once identified me as a grey-headed swamp hen, a female cardinal as a duck and a squirrel as an Indian peafowl. It’s pretty funny but if I were relying on this as identification, I’d be pretty frustrated.

App is glitching, AI is 40% accurate
Videos stopped playing. Can only see live feeds. AI bird identification is accurate about 40% of the time.
Recognition is terrible
The identification is laughable. I’ve had house finches identified as masked ducks, osprey, owls, Roseate Spoonbill, pink pigeon, tropical birds that would never even be on this continent, etc. I think even if they would update their AI to exclude birds that aren’t in the US or native to my area, that would help a lot. However, other than that, I love and enjoy the bird feeder. I don’t need the recognition as I am familiar with birds. The camera is crisp and clear, no wifi issues, easy enough to fill with the provided funnel, easy to clean, and battery life is good. I have birds at it nonstop so it’s clearly easy for them to use. Just fix the identification and it would be one of the best.

Bird ID is BAD
The bird recognition needs a lot of work. Just today it has identified an American Goldfinch as 6 different wrong birds and everything from an Eurasian Coot (waterfowl, wrong continent and like 10 times larger) to an Indian Peafowl (peacock) to a Violet crowned Hummingbird. This thing is literally all over the place in bird ID and literally laughable in how wrong it is. Luckily I don’t need the ID feature, but it really should work better, even Google gets it right with a higher percentage of accuracy.

recognition is awful
the camera is good but the bird recognition part is lousy. today it said a cardinal was a passenger pigeon! Those are extinct!! I have also supposedly had a hawaiian bird, a california scrub jay, a sea egret, and some mexican bird—I am in Indiana so don’t think they all traveled that far. The birds are chickadees and cardinals which are actually native to where I live. It allows you to report an identification as inaccurate but not report what it really is.

Works great till it doesn’t, then you can’t get in
I initially believed this program was great. Easy to install, easy to set up, and easy to use.
That all fell apart when I did not use it for a week, so it forgot my username and password, and would not automatically enter it on opening the application.
I tried the “forgot password “ routine (twice) just for it to tell me there was no such account.
So naturally I tried the “set up account”. Guess what, it says account already exists.
An expensive lesson learned.

Camera is great but recognition software needs a lot of work
Hello Birdie is worth the purchase if you love watching birds but don’t depend on the recognition software to be very accurate. The installation took me several hours as the instructions could have been a lot clearer than they were. It was unclear of whether to charge the Hello Birdie camera (I would recommend doing so for at least 4 to 6 hours first). It was also unclear that you scan a barcode with the Hello Birdie camera to do a scan. It is unclear if you can use a broad location or a specific location during the installation. So, I had a lot of trial and error during installation that took time. In putting Hello Birdie on a shepherd’s hook, I found the seed refill cap was difficult to open and close so I will have to remove the birdhouse from the shepherds hook to refill it. One installed, the camera view was great and sharp. The videos were easy to view. However, the recognition of the birds was inaccurate most of the time with a lot of false reports. It got the name of the bird correct around 5 to 10% of the time. I also would add a squirrel baffle if you use a shepherds hook and don’t want squirrels eating up your birdseed. Overall, a very good product, but I do hope the developers improve the bird recognition software significantly.

Best bird watching bird feeder
Great product! I love being about to watch the birds that come and visit my feeder! I now understand that the AI needs to grow and will get better with the breeds of birds as long as I tell it if it’s correct or not!
Great for Children & Bird Lovers
This is a cool app….especially for young ones! 😊 It’s very easy to navigate through and it works great with my iPhone. My kids love seeing the bird notifications pop up and they cannot get enough of their little feathered friends! They especially love the “live” feature….they even run to the window so that they can see the birds on the feeder! Overall, I’m happy with the purchase and I look forward to learning more about the birds in my area.

Complete Junk
This is the worst camera I’ve seen for recognizing birds. Accuracy is less than 5%. It has identified a northern cardinal as a squirrel! The supposed ability to take photos at night is a complete miss. Save your money.
