Great concept and idea. A coworker told me about hello scoot a while back but I never used it until just recently. IT COST ME! The process after finding a scooter is to look for previous damage, take a pic, and submit it in the app. IF you damage the scooter during your rental, take a pic, submit and pay for the damages. I didn’t find much damage except a few small scraps on the lower side of the scooter. We rode two up on this trip. She wanted to take a short ride in the parking lot to determine if she was able to ride the scooter. During a turn, she stopped, and fell over on the left side. The scooter was on top of her leg. I picked the scooter and her up, no damage was discovered, so we returned the scooter after a 4 hour rental. After arriving back home, thousands of miles away, I found an e-mail from Hello Scoot. The scooter reports drops. The e-mail asked if I was okay. While puttering around the beautiful Tahitian Island, I’m not looking for e-mails so this was missed until days later. The next day, i received another e-mail accusing me of damaging the scooter on the RIGHT side, scrapes to the side fo the faring, NOT reporting per the fine print, thus charged $300 US for damage repair and failure to report! I replied to the e-mail informing them what happened. This was fruitless. They didn’t care. They had my $300 and felt entitled to keep it. Annoying to me because I did not do any damage to the scooter. I didn’t see the minor scratches to the scooter during inspection, and they were very minor cosmetic damage/scrapes NOT broken items, and thus I was charged. IF you decide to use this company, take photos and videos of the sides, front and back, before and after the ride and submit them during your rental as PROOF you did not cause the damage. I won’t be using these con artists ever again. Too bad, because it’s a great idea, and kind of fun to get around the island. Not anymore.
