About

A cozy homestead game that quietly teaches you how to use AI well: the real skills and best practices, learned by playing, with no tech experience needed. Your Aunt Hester has left you her homestead: a cottage, a garden gone to weeds, a jam stall that hasn't opened in years, and three familiars who are very eager to help. The raven gathers. The owl writes. The fox goes to market. They're clever, quick and willing, and they do exactly what you ask. Not what you meant. What you asked. Ask the raven to "gather" and it brings back berries, a spoon and a goose. Ask the fox to sell the jam and it might tell you it sold all twelve jars. The coin purse says nine. Somewhere, a creek is full of jam. So you learn. You learn to say what you want and why. To say what done looks like, and what to keep away from. To check the basket before the jam goes on sale. To spot the tells of a fib. When to do a job yourself, and when to hand it off. Then the homestead grows, and so does what you can do. Link the familiars into a chain that runs while you're away. Give them tools, and tag the tools so they can't trample the garden. Have the fox check with you before anything big. Read what they've written in their notebooks, because not everything in there is right. Build contraptions that run on simple rules. Describe a sprinkler and help the owl draw it up, one fix at a time. Learn to ignore the stranger's note pinned to the board. Every one of those is a real skill for working with AI: writing a clear prompt, giving context, checking the output, catching hallucinations, chaining agents, setting permissions, keeping a human in the loop, managing memory and context, testing before you trust, knowing when to automate, building with AI, resisting prompt injection, and keeping costs down. Aunt Hester's Almanac explains each one as you go: what you did on the homestead, what it really was, the move to remember, and something to try with the AI tools at work and at home. Turn on "Go deeper" for the real terms. And the homestead is lovely to live in. Grow berries, herbs, wheat and pumpkins. Make jam, pies, cordial and bread in Hester's old kitchen. Fill orders for the village. Mend the fence, raise a barn, decorate the cottage. Walk the lane into the village and meet your neighbors. A grey cat may decide to move in. Play a few minutes at a time. Things grow, bubble and get built while you're away, and the familiars will be waiting with something in the basket when you get back. • No ads. No tracking. Nothing to buy. • Works offline. • Gentle reminders when a familiar gets home (only if you want them). • For anyone curious about AI, from "I've never used it" to "I use it every day." Made by Prairie Giraffe, a small studio that helps teams put AI to work, well.
