Fantastic graphics but too hard

Am I doing something wrong on this? For a love letter to Outrun it doesn’t move very fast. Dodge cars and collect coins at 35mph!
Every other part of this game is polished though, it’s just a shame about the lack of thrills.

A brilliant game. If you like Outrun and other 80’s arcade racers, get this - it’s as simple as that! The best 99p you’ll spend.

I love this game. It’s addictive. The music, graphics, control via the iPad etc is utterly amazing as is the bonuses and money collecting etc. But I can’t get past the desert level even with less traffic it’s massively hard. I’d love to see a save type feature so I can continue my progress!

A beautifully crafted 80s coin-op masterpiece magically recreating the sights and sounds from the golden age of arcades and just rollicking good times. Simple controls make the most of the iPhones woeful gaming input credentials and lets you enjoy a blast of the greatness of gaming from the past. Clearly a ton of love and care has gone into making this love-letter to arcade racers and if only taito would let the guys bring Chase HQ or Sega Out Run to the App Store we’d be in gaming heaven - but make no mistake, Highway Runners is it’s omen type of brilliance...

Fun but not like Outrun
Highway Runners obviously takes inspiration from Sega’s arcade classic Outrun for its visuals, but it actually plays quite differently. You can only crash 3 times before it’s game over and your goal is to collect coins on the road so that you can unlock additional stages and modes. This actually gives you more to do than just racing, though you can certainly play it as just racing if you want. The pixel art graphics are really good, probably better than Outrun and definitely more detailed than Final Freeway 2r (the only other notable Outrun clone out right now), but there’s not a lot of variety within each stage. The music is solid retro synth. The gameplay is challenging but the controls are tight and the game rarely feels unfair. Overall, a fun game

The sound turned off permanently
I don’t know what happened, but one day while playing, the sound is turned off, and never came back on. I like the game, I like the graphics, and things like that. However, the game without the sound makes me not want to play anymore or even try to finish. I wish I knew how to correct this problem.

Good but not great
I was a huge fan of Outrun in the arcades so I had high hopes for this. It's a good game but it's too hard to earn money and there's no way (that I've seen) to change your name. It's definitely worth the asking price but I'd like to at least see the currency rate increased a bit.

Not sure if it's just me, but I'm finding it keeps drifting in accelerometer mode and I can't disable it. But it's a great game. A real throwback to a 16 bit arcade era!

Need clearer graphics
Nice outrun ripoff, but the graphics are too pixelated to see what is oncoming, need 2 game modes, pixelated and non pixelated.

I thought I was a genius for coming up with the idea of a modernized Out Run tribute for phones, and then I discovered these guys beat me to it and much better than I could've dreamed.

Exactly what I'm looking for in a mobile game! The tilt controls work great if that's your thing but I really like the touch controls. The developers obviously put a lot of hard work into the game and it is well worth a few dollars!
Fun game
Having a great time playing this. Not getting on with the tilt controls though. Contacted developer about this and promptly responded which was nice. Hopefully a few tweaks could be added in an update.
UPDATED: touch controls have now been added. Finding it a lot more playable now. Thanks for the update, have changed my star rating to reflect this.
