It’s free. NYT , Washington post. Free. What’s not to like?

Does not offer all of Guttenberg's books

As an app for assisting the reader to read Guttenberg's books, you would think it would offer all of Guttenberg's books. It doesn't. You can find lists of the most popular books, the most engaging, etc., but nowhere a list of all of Guttenberg's books. Moreover, if you have downloaded several books and then you wish to delete one of them, you can't. You have to delete all of them. Even if you have 50 downloads and you just want to delete one? Right ~ you have to delete all of them in order to delete one of them. So altogether this is quite an amateurish app.

A good start

Easy to use as a reader of public domain books from project Gutenberg. (And may I just say here: rot in Hell, Amazon, for making it SO hard to do so via Kindle ereader.)

However: you can't bookmark your page! And you can't select a word for dictionary lookup.

If these functions are available, and I am just missing them, (a) I'll be happy to be corrected and (b) rest assured I tried hard to find them before writing a review.

Poor Production

Jumps all over, as poor composition/placement of ads disrupts all. Can't read.

Read NYTimes for free!

Read as much as I can. No more limit monthly limit!

Himalaya Reader

I really like this app and it's easy to use too.

Useless

I have an iPhone & a MacBook & there are no options available to sign up for a Himalaya account (only sign IN is available), rendering this app useless.

Deleted when asked 10 times for money

I enjoyed the app for 3-4 days until I received a dozen or more notices to pay for a service at which point I deleted the app. Fix it and I'll get the app again.

one tap to Download an entire paper

Every morning, I tap " Sync Articles" in Himalaya Reader and then start my morning routine. By the time I sit down for breakfast, I have all the articles from my favorite newspapers, The Times, The Post, The Guardian, LA Times. All articles, not just a few news feeds. Himalaya Reader manages all articles for me. I never have to worry about how the new articles come and the old ones disappeared. All I know is that I tap the 'Sync" and I get the latest newspaper.

At breakfast and later on the bus to work, I would skim through the entire paper quickly by fast forwarding from article to article, saving the few article of interest and skipping though the rest. Himalaya makes this really easy for me to skim through an entire paper in a few minutes. It is really like one scan through the front page of a physical paper to pick up a couple of articles to read.

Throughout of the day, I would revisit my saved articles. All my articles are automatically bookmarked and each article always brings me back to where I left off in my last reading. Himalaya Reader works almost like my little assistant. Lovely little app.

Yawn

Can't read in Landscape mode, sluggish, poor UI.

There are better reader apps dor your iPad.

Much potential but flawed for my usage

Handy and attractive, an app with great possibilities but it won't flip horizontal on my device. That counts as a major drawback to me. When that changes, it could become an essential app.

This is how a smart app should be built !

When using an app, I often get puzzled with apps that provide little direction on one extreme or too much info on the other extreme.

With Himalaya Reader, I get to use the App with my very first tap. The instructions are provided in the context of using it. I never have the slightest hesitation as to what to do next. Once I get a hang of it, all the instructions just disappeared.

This is how a smart map should be built. Always providing help when in need, and when in need ONLY.

Shocking how bad the user interaction is

There may be a great app in here, but after launching it and being presented with a lot of confusing popups I immediately left the app. This really needs a major overhaul from an interaction perspective.

wonderful app

Much faster to access and read articles then waiting for safari to render and bring the reader option.

Wonderful online reading experience!

This is the app I almost use everyday to read NY Times and other news online. It is nice and clean! I can not imagine reading anything online using anything else again. The author did a remarkable job and provided a much needed service to online readers. Way to go!

Download the entire Washington Post.

This is a recommended App by Project Gutenberg and I initially used it to browse the tens of thousands of free Gutenberg books.

But recently I discovered that I could also use it to download the entire Washington Post with just One tap in about One minute(mobile version). I carry the Post with me and read it with leisure on the way to work or,occasionally, on the beach.

Articles always display the page I left off when I return to it. I never have to figure out which articles I was reading a while ago nor have to scroll through a long page to find where I last left off. I just tap 'Save' whenever I find any article of interest and finish reading it later whenever I get time. This is extremely helpful for reading long articles.

I never bothered to write any app review before, but this app creator deserves some praise.

Update is flawed

Formerly good app, especially for Gutenberg. Now it no longer allows me to resume where I left off but gives me chapter headings. And these don't change even after I've read for a while. Also, too often I'm interrupted by needless reminders how to turn a page. Please fix these And make a great app.
