Could be great

I understand watermarks are necessary, but this is a crazy amount. I can't see anything. Everything is blurry and what's recognizable has a watermark over it. So basically I can't see anything. Too bad- this has awesome potential. Just not there yet.

App doesn’t work

Downloaded and all I get is an error message that it can’t verify its version. Adding for posterity, based on their dated website UI with ads littered all over like it’s 2006, and an attitude of “how are we supposed to function without ads,” I have zero faith they can improve. You can have ads and make it a good experience for the user.

Buggy ads, pop up ads, garbage app

App is genuinely unusable in its current state, I’ve updated to the latest version and l just keep running into more issues, it’s so frustrating

Ads are terrible and can't zoom much

Just use the website this app needs more refinement and maybe some sponsors so they don't force ads that say my phone is infected. I also can't zoom in close enough. And screen shots are disabled to zoom in that way. Basically can't use this app for now . Can't wait for the bugs to get worked out though!

Why can I not take a screen shot without the screen going black? Nothing here is copy righted as you can find all maps at your local courthouse….

Watermarks make it near useless

I get not being able to screenshot, if it’s copyrighted material that’s understandable. But the watermarks are laid on so densely you can hardly see anything. What’s even the point.

Ads make it broken

Great website, app still a work in progress. Features like Split View are awesome, and I wouldn’t mind the ads, except that it is currently broken completely. The ad says it is loading but then gets stuck at 0s remaining, forcing you to hit the “back” button and then you lose your place and layer settings. App is unusable currently! If this bug is fixed, I’ll gladly update my review. iPad Pro 11” 3rd gen, v26.3.1

Don’t Waste Your Time

The browser version of historic aerials is really helpful. This app could be great but the developers’ monetization decisions make it complerely useless.

The “parcels” lines (property lines layer) don’t display. I’m trying to use it without that necessary information (I’m metal detecting and need to ensure that I don’t go outside the boundaries of my landowner permissions). The top and bottom of the already-small phone screen are covered by banner ads for other apps, further reducing the available display area, and bumping them as I scroll makes the ads open. There are also constant video ads for that stupid animated king game, which seem to run for thirty seconds either every two or three minutes. Those ads include sound, when I need to be able to hear the detector’s signals.

If the boundary layers was fixed and the ads were removed with a paid version, I’d give it a trial run. Otherwise, I’m sticking with my other property app and the browser version of this.

Holy watermark hell Batman

I understand copyright issues, but making the app completely useless due to watermarks covering every inch the map. Couldn’t even see my house under the watermarks.

Nice idea but the maps load too slowly. If you move out zoom, it appears to reload the same data

Poor infrastructure

Every time I try to use this app, there is a message overlay on the map saying “sorry! the image server has to restart.” I have never seen any image produced by the app. I give up.

Not so good

Spent 10 minutes looking at “we’re sorry” black boxes before getting partial blurry photos of…something. I did get to watch a couple of ads that loaded very quickly, though!

Watermarks are horrid!

I’ve already gone through and read your remarks to other people on this topic but if screenshots can’t be taken then what is the point of watermark overkill? I can’t screen record Disney+, for example, but they don’t have their watermark plastered all over the screen. So your logic here is rather flawed. Anyways….you’ve gone so overboard with the watermarks that it makes the map basically unusable.

Your watermarks cover nearly the entire view. Also unable to screenshot. Why must it be both? Why can’t I screenshot when it’s clearly plastered with your watermark? Greed is shameful.

Watermark

Historic Aerials is a really cool app but I find it annoying everytime I use it the name for the app has watermarks everywhere & I can’t really see what is on the screen.

Amazing website buggy app

I’ve been using the website for years and love it but find the app to be buggy over half the screen is covered in a advertisements

It has some past imagery that Google Earth doesn’t have, which makes this have much more benefits over Earth itself

Frustrating

This app has too many popup ads, and you can’t even take a screen shot, even with their dumb watermark all over everything. Google Earth has none of that. I understand they need to make money, but you should at least be able to save photos.

It appears you may be using an older version (1.0.5) of the app. We recently released version 1.1.0, which addresses the popup ad issue and improves the overall ad experience. Please update to the latest version to receive these improvements. Regarding the watermark, it is necessary to protect the rights associated with the aerial imagery. The data we provide involves significant costs, including imagery licensing, server infrastructure, storage, and processing. Because of these costs, the imagery cannot be distributed freely. Even platforms such as Google Earth generate revenue through other products and services to support the availability of their free offerings and maintain their infrastructure. If you expect us to provide everything completely for free, then by the same logic, you would be expected to work for free at your job or provide your own business services for free, which is not reasonable. If you would like an image without a watermark, you can purchase it directly from our website. The current app version (1.1.0) is a free viewer that allows you to explore aerials and save locations to your gallery for later viewing. To save locations and access them later, you will need to create an account in the app. Once logged in, you will be able to save locations and return to them at any time. We appreciate your feedback and your use of the app.
