Groovy lil application
Well developed app for quick and easy searching of places to visit, local and further afield. Great job HD
Lazy Developers
Why are you several places closed when they are open! Wasted my time and money
The concept is great…
The photos are not very useful to see the size of the castle - many are very zoomed in, like on a stairwell or a pillar. Not helpful.
Rubbish App
Not worth downloading. Apparently there’s no sites within 50km of my location & I live 2 minutes away from one! According to ‘What’s on’ absolutely zilch going on. Sort it out
Membership Login FAIL
This app and the website is a failure. I can’t reserve tickets. Edinburgh Castle is impossible to go in without booking ahead, FAIL.
Information needs updating
Says some sites are closed when they are open. How many people are missing out on places because it says it is closed? For example Linlithgow Palace, shows as closed but is definitely open.
The update option is buried in settings but even when I did that the information was still no updated. How about doing updates when you open the app?

Needs updated
Information on app is pointless as so outdated!! Potentially very good if information relevant….. missed opportunity.
Directions lacking
Sufficiently detailed directions to get to many of the more remote sites are distinctly lacking.
Scotland’s pyramid.
You would think it would have Scotland’s pyramid on it.

Can’t see a way to log in to the app
Would be handy if you could login to the app using your Historic Scotland logins and see your membership stays and maybe sync things that you’ve seen online to the app so that you can just go to the event on the app instead of having to search for it again
Brilliant app but just needs a couple adjustments to be perfect
An excellent app showing the locations of all Historic Scotland managed locations.
The Map of Scotland took is great for checking what’s around the area you’re planning to visit.
You can make an itinerary of what to visit and check of where you’ve been.
On the aforementioned map, it would be useful to see what locations are marked as ‘visited’ (maybe change the icon colour) and show those on an itinerary.
It would also be great if the itinerary took was more integrated into the map locations pages and map, as well as being able to select locations based on their map location rather than having to go back and forth to find the close together locations.

Location details not good
My iPhone has its own maps application, but when looking for directions, I’m expected to download Google maps - why?
And come to that, grid references are useful, but far more useful for most people would be an exact address with postcode, since that’s how my satnav finds places, not with grid references. These are available on the main website, so I’m not sure why they are inaccessible to the app.

Landscape view
Please, please make it available in auto rotate mode.
Primitive
Won’t rotate out of portrait, all text is displayed in a huge font. All feels rather clumsy
Missed Opportunity
The one big thing this app lacks is a members area and the possibility to store your membership card in the Apple wallet. If it had that it would be a great app. As it is you still have to stuff your physical wallet with another card just in case you visit an HES site on spec.
Crashes, won't open
Joined Historic Scotland today so downloaded app but apparently still not working on iOS as reviews from March state - it immediately crashes and shuts down! No use at all!
Faulty app
Cannot get on this app at all I've also contacted app support still not fixed.
Unusable
Crashed every time.
Historic Scotland
Crashes out in seconds. Bug fix needed!
Waste of time
Come on historic Scotland. How hard is it to fix bugs. What is the point of reviews if you don't listen. The app does not work on iOS
