The Best Off-line Bee App
You may find other beekeeping apps with lots of bells and whistles out there however, HiveSmart HQ is an app for beekeepers who need to record their inspection data in the field. No logging-in on the Internet is required. This allows me to record my data directly into the program (on my iPhone or IPad) as I conduct inspections. Yes, the app also has Android capability too.
Every other beekeeping app I have tried wants me to “ log-in” to input my data, that is nuts! In addition, I do not need to pay any vendor to hold my data on their server and charge me a monthly fee subscription averaging from $12 to $40 per month. I keep my HiveSmartHQ inspection data on my iPad Pro and I can back it up to their web-sever, “free of charge” and even download my data to another device like my iPhone, which I do. I manually sync my devices.
Sure, bells, whistles, and fancy colors are nice but they cost a lot too. Nothing is free, not even HiveSmartHQ, but paying $6 US for 100 credits (inspections) is far cheaper than any monthly subscription and the log-in aggravations which accompany it.
For two years I have used this app and conducted hundreds of inspections. You get 100 FREE credits when you setup the app and I purchased some more after six months. I still have enough credits left for another 1,500 plus days and it only cost $42.00 US. That is over four years of inspections, if I conducted one inspection every day (365) of the year. With six hives, I can inspect them every two weeks, that equals 12 inspections x 26 weeks per year, OR 312 total inspections per year (1500/312 = 4.8 years) of inspections. Beat that with any other “log-in” style app you can find.
Finally, you will not find a better team of developers and staff to assist you with questions and application of the software. AppiBee Services, Ltd., is located in New Zealand but do not let that sway your decision to use the app. If you want a decent “no frills” beekeeping app with great customer service by email, you need to give HiveSmart HQ a serious try before you commit to paying subscription contracts, etc.

Terrible
Tried to add a hive location first thing, and couldn't, doesn't work at all, don't waste your time. Can't seem to get any of it to work.
Fails to work properly.
App fails frequently. Wasting my time. Easier using excel spreadsheet. Nice idea. Fix the problems before releasing such an app.
Finally!
Finally there is a decent data base to store all my info for my hives/queens/honey sales, etc etc etc. Would definitely recommend this app to get all that info out of your head and be available to review info about any hive from any apiary. I think I have only scratched the surface of its capabilities looking at all the options, very useful for beekeepers and managing all aspects of beekeeping
