Sure the app is free but virtually all the content requires an in app purchase.
Do NOT waste your money
The app is trash. The maps are worthless and not dynamic. There are no local listings. It’s just Wikipedia information about the cities and history. They include some Creative Commons images as well, but that’s something you can get with a google search.
AR is worthless and has no information. Crashes after a few seconds.

Not good Information
Too basic and not enough detailed information. Started with the free version and the pop up screen to upgrade to the paid version comes every minute. Don’t bother.

Useless maps
I upgraded to get the offline map capability since Google Maps doesn't work offline I'm Japan, but these maps aren't even close to detailed enough to be useful. Save your time and money and try something else.
Also the content is copy-pasted from somewhere like Wikitravel and not even nicely formatted enough to be readable.
