Works well
I have used the online version of the Sentinel app for many years, and early versions of the App did not work all that well. This has become my go-to way to read the Sentinel every morning because it works better than the online version… is quicker and has been trouble-free.
I appreciate the local news coverage the Sentinel provides, though I wish sports stories were in the next day’s paper instead of a couple days later.

A good alternative to print
Unusable app
This app is about the worst I have ever seen. I looked for at least an hour to find obituaries and never found them on the app. The Sentinel has to do better at making their apps useable.

Great Local Paper
I enjoy both the local and national articles. There is also a good representation of international as well. Especially appreciated is the Opinion page. There is a good variety of opinions locally, and I enjoy the occasional national columns as well.

Convenient Hometown News
I love the fact that Holland still has a newspaper and this app is great. It has both the format of the printed version and you can click on a story to read it like on any other mobile news app.

The AP is great. Easy to turn the pages, zoom in & out, and move through the document. Also easy to see past editions. Recommend.

Go local - save paper
Use the Holland Sentinel app. It is easy to navigate without getting ink on your hands and easy to make the font what ever makes reading better. The only downside not is not having bird cage lining and fish cleaning papers. But then I don’t have a bird or fish.

Excellent! Well written and keeps me up to date on our town news and the world news. I also love Snoopy, Garfield and the old folks cartoons.
App Not working!
For the past week the app gives the message, “ You are reading an older edition of the paper. Do you want the current edition?”
When I tap “yes”, nothing happens. So frustrating.
The e-edition is so convenient. Wish the app would work!

I enjoy catching up on the news of the area even when out of town. The app is a great way to connect with great local journalism.

I love the format of this app. It’s about as close to the “real” paper as I can get...seeing the whole yet reading the part.

The Holland Sentinel
As somewhat recent arrivals to the Holland area (4 yrs now), my husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed our morning coffee with our digital copy of the Sentinel. We find the Sentinel to be a high quality local newspaper. It pulls in a good balance of local news and well-selected national and international news pieces. We also find that the editorials and letters on the Opinion page do a nice job of fairly represent opposing views on local and national issues.
Our local news journalists are remarkable. Regarding areas in need of some polishing? As a past English teacher, I would say that I do cringe a bit when I stumble over the occasional convoluted sentence or missed opportunity to edit (although some errors may be do to the digital conversion process.)
As compared to local newspapers from other areas where we have lived, the Sentinel is at the top - the very best.

Works well most of the time.
This app works well most of the time. It will freeze at times especially when turning pages. I am mostly satisfied however.
A great way to read the paper on your iPad
I like this app because it is so complete. Every article at your fingertips in the original format. The only thing that prevents me from leaving 5 starts is that it can be a little glitchy at launch and sometime rendering the images is a little weird. Also, the controls look a little dated.
