API issues and not approved for HomeKit
Bit of a scam to sell an app that isn’t able to communicate to HomeKit just throws API errors…
Pretty much useless
I can't work out how to use this. I don't consider myself stupid, but "Import an example shortcut to begin learning how to use HomBot actions" is not enough documentation for me to work it out. No matter what I try I just get errors. I'll be asking for a refund.
Concept Stage
I like the concept as it adds two nice features to Apple’ Shortcuts for getting and changing HomeKit data. The major downside is the almost total lack of documentation (except for a few limited examples.
The issue is that though there are only two new Shortcut items, each has lots of sub-values which can be entered…. Manually debugging with the sample screen coming up each run is annoying . How do I turn that off?

Frustrating! Could be 5*
On the one hand I am really glad this app exists as it allows me to interact effectively with my Philips Hue devices but on the other hand it's so annoying that it doesn't exist in the menu bar. Therefore every time you run a shortcut on the Mac this app then appears in a window and is annoying and distracting. Please, please, please update so this is discreetly hidden away in the background as a menu bar UI - there is now need for this to be a foreground app window. An update will surely put this firmly in the 5* position.

Not usable…
I tried to get all co2 sensors from my home. All returns are 600ppm, except one. That’s wrong, even when it’s running again are the same wrong numbers coming back.
Works, but a little fiddly
I bought this so I could set the target temperature on a thermostat, and it works perfectly.
That said, configuring the actions is a little confusing - it’s not clear which options need to be set to achieve the desired results, and the error messages are somewhat opaque. I also wasn’t able to find any documentation (but this might be on me).
Overall - recommended, but persist if you hit problems.

Just wish there was a way to round the temperature sensor measurements report to display temperatures to a whole or a tenth degree.

Wrong App Still Charged
I requested a refund because I have never used the app and didn't mean to download this - I was looking for Homebot the Real Estate app. He refused to refund. Cheap and not great way to do busines..

The choice to open the app and bring it to the forefront rather than letting it run in the background is less than optimal. It seems to have been a recent change, as I have no recollection of the app behaving this way before... well, at least not to my memory.

Hi! Yes, unfortunately HomeBot now requires to be launched in the foreground to run some actions due to limitations imposed by Apple in iOS.
I'm not certain that nytimesloverinHongKong has that right
I am fairly certain that the app isn't required to be open; not sure why they felt the need to slam the app/dev for what appears to be their own mistake (not dev)
Revert to Previous Status?
I am trying to figure an automation for the HomeKit to allow a motion detector to trigger an action to first record the Power State, Hue, Color Temp, Saturation, and Brightness on a specific light. Then set to a specific scene for a few minutes that changes that light. Then the trick…. Revert to those recorded settings.
I see these two shortcut tools that your app adds are in the true ShortCut app only, not in HomeKit ShortCuts that I can find…. How would I ever trigger anything for your tools with a HomeKit Motion Detector? Probably not the right application.
Hopefully Apple opens the power of HomeKit ShortCuts to tools like yours….

Great idea, unsuable for me
The idea is really good, however the App keeps opening up every time I am running a shortcut. As I am running some of them constantly in the background, it pops up every minute, which is just way to annoying to be useful for me.
I understand that this is a workaround for some permission issue, but it would've been nice to know this before purchasing.
Also, is there really no better option, like hiding it in a menu bar item or opening and automatically re-hing the app immediately?

Hi! Thanks a lot for the feedback, yes, I know this is annoying but unfortunately Apple introduced a bug on HomeKit that requires the app to be launched for some actions. I will think about some of the workarounds you mention. In the meanwhile I can suggest you to use the “Quit App” or “Hide App” actions in Shortcuts to minimize this inconvenience.
Entitlements issue
Was not clear when purchasing this that the shortcuts you make with this only work when the app is visible. That makes this much less useful than I thought it would be!
Great app
I think this is a great app with a lot of potential. I love shortcuts and this makes it easier to get data from Home characteristics and then perform actions.
One wish I’d like it to have is to be able to detect the state of windows. I wanted to make a ‘are any windows open’ shortcut and that ability does not seem to be there.

Could be great if it worked in the background on MacOS
If HomeBot is minimized I get the error "Missing entitlement for API", when running HomeBot shortcuts. Bringing the homebot app to the foreground fixes this but it's less than ideal.
Hidden Power Within this Add-On App
It’s easy to overlook the power of this app. When you look at the Homebot actions within Shortcuts, you only see two listed. However, you can extract very specific details regarding each of your HomeKit devices. For example, I was able to generate a csv file that listed each device (and it’s name, room, and service type) by using HomeBot.
If you’ve got numerous HomeKit devices, this will allow you to organize or control them in new ways.
Also, open the separate HomeBot app installed on your iOS device - the author included example Shortcuts that you can add into your library that helps you see how it can be used.

This error is due to a bug introduced by Apple in iOS 15 and macOS Monterey. I have already reported it to them. Thanks for the feedback!
Very useful but buggy
I have used this app to create several HomeKit shortcuts to do more complicated or specific automations, such as gradually dimming a light which is not something HomeKit supports.
However, learning how to use the app’s actions takes some time as there aren’t any useful instructions, just some basic examples. And I continually get the error “Could Not Run Run Home Action: Missing entitlement for API”
