What's New in Homemanager for Homebridge

5.1.3

August 17, 2026

Improved - Improved restart behavior after updates. We detect which bridges are affected by the update and restart only those that really need it. - Improved auto-restarts after configuration updates. We compare the config change with the last active state and perform selective restarts. - Improved visibility for accessory services of type "InputSource". Fixed - Fixed critical bug that caused all bridge detail pages to stop loading if at least one child bridge of a disabled integration exists (Special thanks @Adriano) - Fixed misleading "Leave flow" popup after the main interaction already finished - Fixed missing auto-restart after uploading config changes - Fixed missing localizations for some system types - Fixed naming for HOOBS Pro boxes

Great app

Perfect App for Managing HomeBridge while away from the computer or home!

I don’t like the update

I paid the additional one time lifetime license fee, but I’m not sure why I did and what I got for it. The app is riddled with “coming soon” screens (just hide them!) and workflows that take longer than before, like updating a plugin now makes me click skip on creating a backup which is a “coming soon” feature… what kind of user experience is that. And for the life of me I can’t find my pairing code anywhere. Why did you make it so much harder to find? And now after updating a plugin it doesn’t offer to restart just that child bridge it restarts the whole thing? Why so many steps backward. Strange

might as well use web app

new UI is borderline unusable. i tried to get used to it, but just can't. i'll just use the web app going forward.

What happened

Used to be a good app now it has a worst UI which list 97% off my devices as unknown and in order to use this worst interface they want me to buy a new pro license because the one I bought for the version of the app I liked won’t count for this update I did not ask for. That’s fine I’ll just make my own or find another, way to disgruntle long-term loyal users. Should have made it a separate "updated v5" app or at least left the pro licenses alone.

They responded saying I could restore the license but that’s what I have done they call it legacy and expect another $3 for an upgrade to use a worst app I didn’t ask to change which I already paid for a lifetime one-time license to. The wording they use doesn’t even make sense. In order to continue providing “one-time” licenses they need all existing “one-time” licenses to pay an upgrade fee lol. You’re not offering a one-time license in either of those cases.

Responded again with the same none-sense saying the cost is for maintaining support when none of the complaints about changes I have involve work to maintain the basic homebridge plugin management and dashboard functionality. I have made several plugins and my local instance is deployed from a self hosted gitea instance that forks and rebases updates from the official with my own changes applied on top so trust me when I say that’s a load of manure to justify it, but all my complaints pertain to app features and changes; not requested by, but forced upon customers who didn’t ask for them with a fresh price while killing the existing lifetime app we actually paid for. Review stands, so does my opinion and nothing will change that aside from retaining the original app as a legacy app and making this a new separate version like proper developers would.

Once more people update their apps I’m sure you’ll see more reviews like this popping up. If I could leave 0 or less stars I would.

Response from developer

Updated Response: The update fee to v5 licenses is entirely optional. If you don’t want to use features of v5, your previous lifetime license remains valid for all features you previously purchased for. So yes, it is a one time lifetime purchase. As a long time customer you might notice how much is going on in the Homebridge community and that there are many technical changes from year to year. The small optional update fee helps us to maintain the app further, adapt to new changes and develop new features. If you have further questions regarding the licenses or want to share more details about your criticism, please contact us. We are open to discuss it further. Original Response: Hi, we are sorry that you are not happy with the update. Please try to restore your previous license, go to the license page, top right menu, restore license. Sometimes the license get not restored automatically. All your previously bought features remain available without any additional cost. Only new features of v5 that haven’t been there and took more time to develop, will be available after a small update fee for around 2-3 dollars (depending on the country you live in) Regarding your bugs / criticism about the UI, we would love to hear more from you by email (support@homemanager-app.de). This is the only way we can try to solve your issues / fix the bugs and try to improve the user experience for you. Best Regards, Hannes/Ron

One of the best solutions!

Easily one of the best Homebridge solutions available. While it’s excellent, adding support for macOS, watchOS and iPadOS would be a huge step forward. I’d also love to see a dedicated accessories control page and the ability to create groups, similar to the functionality in the Home Assistant app!
