Constant issues with notifications, very few contractors, and responses take several days......

Scammer central

Probably one of the worst apps for contractors and “homeowners” because the app is full of scammers and the way that HomeStars “refunds” you after you have been scammed when a “homeowner” shares their contact information is only credited which means that the app gets your money from the card provided and the refund can only be credited. Therefore the job isn’t real, you don’t get a refund and the contractor or business gets taken advantage of. I wouldn’t recommend this app at all. Most of the homeowners aren’t even owners they are just scammers

Terrible app

HomeStars needs to completely overhaul this app. We need to be able to also search for Pros and see there reviews without putting a requisition request through.

They will only accept high priced jobs…

After posting a job, you will receive replies, and they will tell you they will come by on such and such a date, but then push the date for two weeks, eventually asking you to just “
“send pictures” instead of coming to give you an actual in person quote. We should be able to rate respondents on this unprofessional interaction.

100% Appreciate Canadian

Unlike one your major competitors who formed out of USA and website based in London, England, very happy to deal thru a Canadian company. So far I do find this site much better to work with and more informative at the start of job posting. Have placed a few posting and still getting used to the process.

Downhill so quickly

What happened to your website and this app? I used to use using Homestars a fair bit. Was easy to find companies by category, and was great reviewing companies before I contacted them.

Every single company I chose after my research was perfect for the job.

Now all you can do is submit an RFQ…. And more than one I never heard back.

Now this app, and Homestars as a whole is about as useless and pointless as a doorbell on a houseboat. You have made it the much harder to find good contractors/companies.

Redesigned app but lacking basic features

When a job is posted and chats are initiated, the chats panel doesn’t highlight/bold or have any marker to indicate new/unread messages which is a hassle to keep checking each and every single chat for updates or have to open app based on email notifications

Renovations by Matt

We had Matt and his team in to do a complete renovation of our basement laundry room. We were extremely pleased with the results. They provided top quality service and were punctual and pleasant to deal with.
They took an unfinished area of our older home and turned it into a bright, beautifully finished work space. They did an outstanding job installing drywall to replace old panelling, a new tiled floor with drain, a new ceiling with pot lights, and cabinetry with a beautiful quartz worktop. The project involved moving our washer, dryer and sink, our water heater, and two doorways to give the room a more spacious, functional feel. The final steps, the baseboards and painting of the room, were done with professional care and attention to detail. We’re already planning our next reno with Matt and his team.

Their recent update is so amateur. They need to find a homestars for web development.

Can’t use the website, can’t login with my account. Can’t even submit a web form to support.

Going to another option.

Why have an app?

When I want to get a quote I get punted to the website. I downloaded the app because the web experience wasn’t great. Seems like the basic functions of the company should be doable in the app

App and website both buggy

There are issues with the log-in page in which the website and app force me to constantly reset my password. Once I am in the website and app, I can’t access my service request. All I get is a never-ending “loading” message on the app and website. Needless to say, I’ll be looking at other platforms. It’s just really unfortunate because my friend recommended this site to me.

Buggy and poor VoiceOver performance

I consistently get a something went wrong error whenever I go to create a project. The voiceover performance in this app is not great. It is unclear as to whether or not I have checked an option.
This app needs a page 1 rewrite in SwiftUI.

The app will display incorrect projects. I just accidentally cancelled a project I had just created because it showed up as a previous project from a long time ago.
