Although sometimes it’s nice to look at the events through rose colored glasses, CB takes them off for you.
Poor iPad support
This app is basically a blown up phone app but for an inexplicable reason they chose to not let it do landscape which makes me not even use it although the content on civil beat is far and away superior in journalism I end up with Hawaii news now simply because it landscapes.
Civil Beat is Great, but App needs work
Civil Beat is an awesome news and commentary site for Hawaii. But the app lags behind. They still have not released an iPad version after several years. Why?
They no longer allow you to comment via the iOS app. Instead, you must go to the website. Why?

Better menu and organization
Lack of a menu with true topic sections and archives makes the App less useful.
Grateful for Civil Beat
Impressive local reporting. Focus on government problems and solutions is useful and is better done than the newspaper. Plenty of room for improvement but overall we are fortunate to have this journal in our community and they deserve our support.

CB’s New App Makes Reading Difficult
Whoever developed this app doesn’t know how readers read. Browsing is difficult, as you’re limited to swiping through groups of stories, can’t get a top line overview of site contents and can’t read reviewer comments. I despise this app and would reinstall the old one if possible.

Great app. Easy to swipe to various articles. I like getting the 8:00 am notification that there are new articles posted. Easy fonts for reading. And of course, the quality of reporting on Hawai’i issues is fantastic. Any plans for an iPad app?
