This village witnessed intense battles between American and German forces, endured devastating bombings, and suffered tragic civilian losses, paying a heavy price for these dramatic events. On January 16, 1945, troops from the First U.S. Army joined those of the Third Army, marking far more than a simple meeting: a symbolic and strategic victory signaling the beginning of Germany’s defeat.
