Does not work with iOS 11
I’ve had this app for one week and apple updated the iOS and now it won’t open. If there is no update from the developer, it’s money wasted. I have students who were using it for description and prepositions and are very disappointed.
Great app
This app has really nice graphics and is very engaging. My students really enjoy putting items in the house independently or by playing a following directions game.
Fun!
I just got this and had fun with it. I will use it with my students today! Love the simplicity and attractive graphics.
Better for older students
As much fun as my younger students have with the idea of it, and as versatile as it is for language targets, my younger kiddos have a difficult time manipulating the icons. Heck, even I have a hard time sometimes! I love how it can be used for a lot of spatial and size concepts, as well as following directions. When you add the people, you can target pronouns and sentence formulation. Lots of ideas for how to use it, but not as user friendly as I would like.

Love this app
I love this app for all of my students. It is great for working on prepositions, following directions, and even articulation at the conversation level. The kids ask to play with it as a reward at the end of the session.
Many uses
This app is great, and I have used it for many different language activities with me students. I have seen some other reviews talk about the pictures being to small & hard to move & pieces missing(countertops). Would love to have it where most big things(tables, counters, refrigerator, windows, etc) were set & the people & real moveable objects were the only things that moved.

House of Learning
Not impressed with the graphics in House of Learning. I'm not sure this app will hold my students' attention. $6.99 down the drain. I have downloaded better FREE app.
Slp
The house of learning is a great app to use during speech therapy. It can be used to teach prepositional phrases as well as pronouns. It is great that the people and items are able to be manipulated. Students love it!
great for prepositions and pronouns
Love this app for working with students on location and preposition words. Also great for targeting pronouns!
Wonderful app for teaching prepositions and oral language
I have used this app for 6 months. it is a great app for teaching concepts. It has the ability to put items directly behind and have it show it behind the other object. The students love to make different scenes. The ability to take a picture and save it is great. The students remember their pictures. It is such a great app that I have not discovered all the uses. You need this app.

Flexible for the speech room
House of Learning is a great tool for SLP's working with the preschool population. You can easily target vocabulary, following directions, spatial and temporal concepts. Expressive language is easy target as well! Just have your students talk through what they are adding to the rooms! My students think adding the people and making them bigger and smaller is so fun! I think the opportunity to work on those size concepts is fun!
Great app for the preschool crowd!

This SLP loves smarty ears!!!
House of learning makes therapy fun for the kids. The therapy session flies by and the kids aren't, even aware they were learning the whole time!! Thank you Smarty ears!!!
Fun app
This app is a great way to work on vocabulary and sentence structure with my speech and language kiddos. They really enjoy it and are motivated by it when we use it.
Great!
Love this app! The flexibility is wonderful. All my speech kiddos can benefit.
Fun and learning for all!
I love house of learning and so do my students. I get to use it to cover so many areas of speech: articulation, expressive and receptive vocab, following directions, articulation, endless possibilities! Some of my students even ask to play it 'just for fun'.
Misses the boat
This app is a great idea but the pictures are too small and difficult to figure out. Also, in some of the rooms, like the kitchen, furniture is missing-- like counter tops. After some updates, this could be great!
House of learning
This colorful app was developed for speech-language pathologists and teachers for teaching vocabulary and prepositions. However, it's ease of use makes it appropriate for parents of young children as well.
There are so many early learning skills that can be addressed as well.
First, the vocabulary is very comprehensive. Rather than learning rote with flash cards the children can choose the items they would like to decorate their room.
In teaching prepositions the therapist, teacher or parent can elicit "where" responses.
House of learning can be used to teach function. "you put a bed in your bedroom. You sleep in a ______. the child fills in the blank.
Use this app to teach memory by having the child repeat what they put in the room, by looking at the picture and then without looking at it.
Other skills to teach are categories and articulation. The articulation may require work by the therapist as he or she will have to spend some time initially listing all the words by sounds.
The email option is an outstanding feature for parental involvement and carryover. Email the child's completed picture with the words being learned.
Smarty-ears has provided a support page with additional suggestions and early learning skills.

In Love with this app
I am always impressed with the quality of the apps developed by Smarty Ears. I am a fan of several of your products and I have to confess that you guys are starting a revolution. I enjoy how the characters have different positions (sitting, sleeping, etc). I would love to see some more characters, maybe some multicultural characters?

Impressive application again!
This app has so much potential for teaching prepositions! Children learn while playing!!!
Almost there
I see lots of potential with this app, but it's not quite there yet. The objects don't lock into place so often they move when you don't want them to, sometimes it's hard to double click an object and get it back up to the choice bar, the furniture doesn't rotate so that it can fit anywhere in the room, the people are difficult for little fingers to shrink (I can do it, but my son can't) and some items are difficult to drag to the picture ( not sure why some work easily and others do not).
I have no doubts that smarty ears will soon have an update to fix these bugs so that it is easier to use and for young children to manipulate. Thanks smarty ears.
