Easier Than REW, Less Expensive Than Dirac

I’m really impressed by this app, it just makes everything so easy, just like it should be. Setting up a mic? Easy. Running a sweep? Easy. Generating a response curve? Easy. Copying that curve into miniDSP PEQ settings? Easy. Getting stoked on how your system sounds after setting up your new PEQ? EASY.

Good job!

This is a great, easy to use tool. Just invest an hour reding the directions and you’ll be good to go. It made my expensive stereo sound like I thought it should and could sound. Sound went from good to amazing. It also helped me fix a large bass dip 14 db at 125 hz. Moved my speakers closer to front wall to get it to 8 db and was able to correct it to 1.5db dip. Nice

Good app that I’ve seen that uses the iPhones microphone

A microphone is more than good enough for simple, manual EQ, but most apps don’t use it or don’t compensate, this app does both and for a decent (at least when I purchased it). While not exactly necessary, I do wish that they added true support for headphones.

Will not work

Will not connect to iPhone.

First time

Worked until I purchased the 2 upgrades now it won’t connect and play

User friendly

Tried it with a UMIK-1 and was able to add the calibration files. Bought the add-on and I’m really happy with the average and save options.

Easy and compatible with Equalizer APO

Simple and does what it does well. Exported to the PEQ format and dropped right into my Equalizer APO without a hitch.

I personally enjoyed the “cuts only” version much more, but YMMV!

Just doesn’t work

Seems like I’ve paid three times and the app keeps asking me to upgrade.

Response from developer

Hello, an issue was introduced in iOS 18.4 that prevents some users from restoring purchases. Reinstalling the app is one way to fix it. I just released HouseCurve-5.2.2 which may also resolve the issue. Please reach out to support@housecurve.com if you want more help.

Does not work

I really like the concept behind this app. Unfortunately it is unable to connect to any of my airplay music systems so no bueno

Once you figure it out great even the free version

So after playing around I learnt Bluetooth doesn’t work well. So cable up and test using the phones mic and it gave me the readout I’ve been after. Will be buying it

Genuinely fantastic

Didn’t fancy buying a calibration microphone and an expensive AVR for advanced room correction so I took a punt with this, and for £15 it’s brilliant.

Measure speakers with your phone, export PEQ with whatever target curve you want, import into Equalizer APO & done. Sounds 10x better now. Brilliant!

So buggy

I have to reset my phone every 2nd or 3rd attempt at running a sweep. This app is broken and should be removed from the App Store.

A wonderful resource

I have had Polk towers as my TV speakers for 10 years and always thought they were remarkably neutral. Housecurve confirmed my impression.

I have pair of KEF 105.3 speakers that I refoamed and replaced the tweeter diaphragms. The replacements are much brighter than the originals, but are easily tamed with treble control or DSP.

I made 10 measurements of each system, moving around the room.

The results are very helpful.

Simple, effective and cheap

I moved house and the only room I could use for music listening is very lively, wooden floor, not a lot of soft furnishings - everything sounded pretty bad
I used HouseCurve to get an idea of what I was dealing with and decided to upgrade for £15 to get EQ suggestions
Implementing these suggestions via Roon made a huge difference and to be honest it has been much more effective than I would have thought
I appreciate that hardcore hi-fi afficianados will never approve of a lot of DSP processing but all I can say is - it really worked well for me
My wife, who is not a hi-fi buff, instantly noticed something was different and better too

Unreliable

One out of every two to three sweeps actually works. Good app when it functions properly but very unreliable.

So easy even an audiophile could do it.

Get this tool.
Good fun and effective analysis for your hifi curiosities.

Works great with WIIM amp over AirPlay

I was able to use an external Dayton OmniMic (USB mic) plugged into my iPhone USB-C port. Also could read in the OmniMic calibration file, which is a huge bonus. Generated a 10-stage parametric EQ and loaded into the WIIM app. I’ve got fairly high-end speakers so I focused the tuning on the low-end (bass). Sounds great!

Is there a way to use this over (wired) CarPlay? It seems to default to the crappy car mic since the USB-C port is in use, and it would be better to use the internal iPhone mic since it’s compensated.

Overall great app!!

Worked perfectly

Much easier than buying a mic of fiddling with REW. App is simple but gets the job done well, documentation by the developer is excellent. Multiple measurements and parametric EQ customization works well, I needed to lower the gain maximum and it recalculated a new PEQ for me. Exported my EQ settings directly into EqualizerAPO and it worked perfectly, and my results passed a blind test as a noticeable improvement! Great app, looking forward to further developer support and updates!

Not much of a reason to hate this app!

I found out about HouseCurve through an online audio forum I frequent, through a post from the creator and using info from there, and the apps website, I was able to get my Hi-Fi Speaker Setup sounding a heck of a lot better! It’s not pure night and day, but it’s enough of a difference to appreciate a tool like this. Plus with it being as cheap as it is, even with the added $10 purchase, there’s practically no reason to hate this app!

Easy solution

This is a great tool for checking your speakers and it makes calibration easy!
