A gelding is not just "a horse" and a heifer is not just "a cow", so the app works out what each animal is actually called from its sex, age and whether it is neutered, and keeps up as it grows. Cattle are not microchipped, so the ID field asks for the official ear tag number instead. All of it carries through to the record you share with your vet.

It is not a substitute for veterinary advice — and it tells you so, every time. When in doubt, the assistant errs toward "call your vet."
