Best driver app I’ve used, one fix from 5 stars
I've been doing non-app contract delivery work for about 5 years and have used a wide variety of driver apps. Most of them are frustrating to work with. This one is easily the best I've ever used.
PROS:
- Barcode scanning for sort and out-for-delivery is incredibly fast. It cut roughly 15 minutes off my pre-delivery work for 60-80 daily packages.
- The navigation isn't Google Maps, but the flow for completing a delivery and getting set up for the next stop is excellent.
- The UI is modern without compromising on the core features a delivery driver needs to be successful.
CONS:
- The biggest low-hanging fruit: let drivers toggle voice navigation off permanently. Right now I have to disable it manually after every stop, which is a huge annoyance at best and a safety hazard at worst. I would change my review to 5/5 if this were fixed.
- Navigation routes through tolls with no way to toggle them on or off. I know my area well enough to work around it by switching to Google Maps for 1-2 stops, but a native toll-avoidance option would be much better.
- ETA estimates are far off, so I can't reliably predict when my day will end based on what the app shows. One possible fix: let the driver or contracting company set an adjustable per-stop time (1-3 minutes, for example). Stop duration varies a lot by area (downtown vs. suburbs vs. country roads), so adjustability would be key to accurate ETAs.
Overall, as a driver I think Hovership has huge potential to be a market leader, and I look forward to seeing new features roll out that improve the experience.
