About
Really learn to draw, from scratch, with a complete two-year course. Every drawing draws itself in front of you, step by step: guides first, then the line, shading last. You follow along on your own paper.
All you need is a pencil, an eraser and a sheet of paper.
HOW IT WORKS
• Before each step you see in red what is about to be drawn; then the pencil traces it and the eraser rubs out the guides.
• Pause, go back or scrub through the stroke at your own pace.
• Trace with the camera: prop your phone on a glass or a few books and the drawing appears over your paper, step by step, so you can go over it in pencil.
• Fifteen minutes a day is enough: short lessons, a daily streak and a different warm-up every day.
• From memory: review drawings without looking at the steps to fix them in your hand.
• Your sketchbook: save a photo of each of your drawings and watch yourself improve month by month.
• On iPhone Duo, the drawing and the steps sit on either side of the fold: half open on the table, the drawing stands up and the instructions lie within reach.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN (141 lessons, 200 drawings)
Year one: lines, circles and ellipses; drawing with shapes; volume (cube, cylinder, sphere, cone); light and shadow with hatching and a value scale; textures; still life; one and two-point perspective; trees, flowers and landscapes; animals; eyes, nose, lips and facial proportions; and a full portrait.
Plus collections to practise each technique: 24 vases, bottles and lamps; 16 fruits; 20 cute animals; 12 characters; 16 flowers and plants; 16 objects and houses in perspective; 12 trees and landscapes; and 16 sea creatures and bugs.
Year two: body proportions and the mannequin, gesture and movement, hands and feet, clothing and folds, expressions, horses and birds in flight, skies and forests, skyscrapers in three-point perspective, characters (robot, chibi, monster), ink drawing with hatching and stippling, composition and the rule of thirds, and a final urban sketch.
WHO IT IS FOR
For anyone who has never drawn and thinks they "can't", and for those who draw and want solid foundations: perspective, shading and the human figure. Real pencil on real paper, and camera tracing when you want to loosen up your hand.
