How to Identify Minerals

This very well done app is really misnamed because it is far more comprehensive than just mineral identification. It provides a good overview of the basic chemistry needed to understand minerals as well as providing explanations about how minerals form and are classified. The treatment of mineral properties is excellent and includes many instructive video clips. The section on mineral identification lets learners apply and test their understanding of mineral properties. Another great strength of this app is interactivity. The interactive quizzes are not only helpful tests of knowledge, but engaging and fun reviews. Other useful features are location maps, a glossary, and a nifty "mini-encyclopedia" of common minerals. The photography in this app is excellent. I strongly recommend"How to Identify Minerals."
