About

How To Movie predicts how YOU'll rate a film before you press play, using a personal model trained only on your own ratings, never the crowd's average. Rate the films you've seen, and How To Movie builds a model of your taste, then scores everything on your watchlist as Ugh, Good, or Great, calibrated to how you actually rate, not a generic 7.5. WHAT IT DOES • Predicts your rating. A personal model, trained on the films you've rated, estimates how you'll score a film before you watch it. • Modern and classic brains. Separate models for recent films and 15+ year-old classics, so older movies are judged on their own terms. • How you'll feel. Every film gets a clear Ugh, Good, or Great verdict, with a confidence level. • Your Taste Profile. See who you are as a viewer: your signature genre combos, the people driving your recent taste, where your taste is heading lately, and how you stack up against the crowd. • Year in Review. A shareable, image-rich recap of your movie year, plus a 7-year "Your Era" retrospective. • AI Discovery. Optional AI recommendations read your taste profile and surface films worth your night, only when you turn it on. • A watchlist that works. Track what you want to watch, filter by decade or release year, and see what's out now. • Rankings and Stats. Your favorite actors, directors, studios, genres, and eras, ranked by your own ratings. WHY IT'S DIFFERENT It doesn't tell you what critics thought. It tells you what you'll think. Recent favorites count for more, so predictions keep pace with how your taste actually shifts over time. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your ratings and any AI keys stay on your device. No ads, no analytics SDKs, no tracking. Free to use.

Meet your Taste Profile: and see where your taste is headed. • Taste Profile: a new Profile tab in Insights that shows who you are as a viewer — your signature genre combos, the people driving your recent taste, what you've been watching lately, what to watch next, and how you compare to the crowd. • Year in Review, expanded: richer, more image-forward recap cards, a new 7-year "Your Era" retrospective, and the ability to share any card. • AI Discovery is out of beta: optional recommendations now run in the background and stay fresh. • Tags: organize your library your way. • Prediction history: snapshots so you can watch your model sharpen over time. • Release Radar: a new "Out Now" tab and streaming releases in Coming Soon. • Filter your watchlist by decade or release year with an interactive histogram. • Now runs on iPhone with iOS 18 and later. • Faster imports, a fix for a long freeze on fresh installs with large libraries, and a smoother, snappier Taste Profile.
