What's New in Huck
1.5.5
October 28, 2026
New, and free: Get me out, on the map's right side and in CarPlay, lists the ways out from where you are, closest first, each with its distance and time: back the way you came, back to your last signal, your nearest waypoints, the nearest main road and highway, and Home, once you set it in Settings. Tap one and Huck leads you there. Pick a road or spot finds a road by name or number, like US 95, or takes a tap on the map. It all works with no service. Before you head out, update your downloaded map areas: a region downloaded before October 15, 2026 may have no highway data for Get me out until you do. In the Idaho Panhandle, Get me out and Take me there now go over trails as well as roads. Get me out asks once how you're traveling — on foot, by horse or bike, or by motorcycle, ATV, side-by-side or truck — and checks each way against the Forest Service's motor vehicle use maps, Idaho Parks & Recreation's trail designations, and the seasons and closures on the map. At each turn it names the trail and its number. With a restricted plate on a motorcycle, ATV or side-by-side, a way out can use county and city roads; it says how much, and to check local rules. New trail colors show who may use a trail, quietest first: green for hiking and horses, blue adds bikes, red adds motorcycles, and orange adds ATVs. Pink marks snowmobile trails, and gray means no uses are published. New in Settings, and free: Map colors, with Standard and Color-blind. Color-blind, designed with color-vision simulation, uses fewer colors set apart by lightness, and draws routes open to motor vehicles with a light center between dark edges. The legend draws each line the way the map does, and "Colors hard to tell apart?" opens Map colors. Filters, Type now fades the other kinds of route: choose High-clearance and only high-clearance roads stay at full strength. A selected trail keeps its own colors inside a violet halo. Start trail now has separate choices for an ATV, a side-by-side 50 inches and under, and a 4WD side-by-side over 50 inches, each checked against the Forest Service's motor vehicle use map, on the phone and in CarPlay. Trail cards, and the MVUM layer with Huck+, say which vehicle classes include side-by-sides. More cards say when a vehicle may not use all of a trail. If Huck is closed mid-ride, the recording comes back with its miles and line, and Finish on a started trail no longer deletes it. Record says when Precise Location is off. With no service, Huck makes no App Store call at all: Huck+ says you're offline instead of showing an error, and stays on for up to a week if your subscription renews while you're out of service. Huck+ features show a purple lock when you don't have Huck+, and tapping one opens Huck+. On a weak signal, forecasts, wildfire and avalanche danger give up within 30 seconds instead of hanging, and with no service a forecast says you're offline. If the wildfire feed sends an error, Huck keeps the last fires it had. Fire restrictions say when they were last checked, and give no all-clear after a failed update or on last season's data. A failed map download says what happened and what to do. One that loses signal stops by itself after about three minutes with Huck open, and Pause stops one where it is; either way it picks up where it left off. Turn-by-turn says "Turn around" after a wrong turn instead of repeating "Rerouting". In CarPlay, the map turns with your car from about 10 mph, and the arrow follows the direction you're driving from about 5 mph. Our privacy policy is updated: Huck now keeps the last 24 hours of where it has seen you, on your phone, so Get me out can lead you back the way you came; Settings → Remember my path turns it off and clears it.
