hueDynamic for Hue Pro User Reviews

Intuitive to use, stimulating

I am new to Hue. I have tried a dozen apps to get some measure of control over the downlight floods, ribbons, washes and other lights in my system. hueDynamic is the best, by far. I give the app high marks for a very intuitive interface which guides you to learn create more visually stunning and complex effects. The large number of included color palates, simple ambience and dynamic effects is very impressive. The app makes it easy to set up automations that can run simultaneously. Or you can drive your Hue lights individually or in combination entirely manually. I look forward to future versions which I hope will add more conditionals, (saved) state variables and ability to store and repurpose schedules and automations. For what I need right now, this app is super.

Requires Bridge Device

It was not clear that you would need a bridge device to use any of the features. I would not have purchased it if it were more clear. That being said it does seem like it could be a good app if I had the right hardware.

Screen Does Not Rotate on iPad Pro

Excellent App. Gave it 4 out of 5 stars because I use the app mostly while watching movies or sports games. Turns out when I rotate the iPad in “Landscape” orientation, the image from the camera does not rotate and it makes it awkward trying to adjust settings. The image from the camera shown on the screen is sideways whenever the iPad is in “Landscape” mode. Please fix and I’ll give it 5 out of 5 stars (hopefully my description makes sense).

No Siri control?

I can get scheduled events like wake up to show up on the Phillips app, and I can make them respond to Siri. But other experiences like candlelight, I have no idea how to get The experience to be recognized by the Phillips hue app (or the Home app) so I can’t say “candlelight“. I’ve been all over the website, and all the help, but I can’t figure this out about.

HueDynamic App

This is the best hue app I’ve used. It is missing a couple of capabilities that I miss. Limiting the number of lights to 10 is disappointing. If wish it had the capability to build our own Experiences. Despite this it is a great app.

Please make a pirate ship sound

Creaking boards and a storm with waves would be one of the better experiences this app could offer despite that I’m loving it

Great app

Finally an app that doesn’t scam everyone for super expensive annual fees or expensive micro transactions to buy light packs. This app works well and blows the competition out of the water as far as price and quality goes. My only complaint/hope is the need to have the lights run in the background with the screen off as some other apps do.

iOS 14.1 on iPhone SE Not Working

After updating to iOS 14, the app no longer works and does not connect to the Hue Bridge. Seeing as this is a premium app, this really should have been tested better before release.

Edit: It’s an edge-case that you might want to address, but if you have the latest app version already installed, then iOS updates to iOS 14, then the Local Network permissions pop up never shows. So no, it’s not “obvious” as the developer said.

Should treat your customers better with the way you address them. As a developer, to assume all edge cases work is arrogant and a bad approach to QA, especially on mobile apps.

Response from developer

The app works fine on iOS 14. When prompted you should Allow local network permissions which is new in iOS 14. If you deny this it obviously won’t work. Reinstall and Allow this permission to continue.

Stopped working after iOS 14

After updating to iOS 14 everything I previously setup was erased and it’s no longer finding my bridge or lights. Doesn’t work!

Response from developer

iOS 14 is fully supported and used by thousands of hueDynamic customers without issue. I'm not sure what you've done but I'd suggest you look elsewhere.

Features list still misleading

The app is fine for what it does, but I gladly paid for the pro version because of one feature alone above anything else: virtual push link. Unfortunately it doesn’t work and probably never will unless Philips (or Signify or whatever) re-enables it. Not the developer’s fault as that’s something completely out of their control. However, accurately describing an app’s functionality is a developer’s responsibility and 100% in their control. Failing to do so is at the very least misleading even if only due to an oversight. Not updating the features list after it was brought to their attention privately: deceptive advertising.

Response from developer

Hi this is a true oversight and will be corrected with the next update. Thanks for the heads up. I hope they bring that API back though.

motion sensor/update October

Edit: thank you. Changed rating to 5 stars. This is the ONLY app (out of ALL apps I’ve had in my LIFE) that is 100% reliable. Keep up the great work.

Response from developer

Hi there, thank you for your review. Please ensure you clear any existing rules for your motion sensor using the X button in the hueDynamic app before you Save your configuration. You can find this at the top right of the programming screen, next to the Save button. This will ensure there are no conflicts with other rules that may still be on the bridge from previous apps etc.

Great app

Responded promptly to an issue earlier this week with app. I highly recommended this over all the other hue apps currently out.

Ed

Latest update renders its inoperable on an oldest iPad air. This is the one I use for the house functions. It still works on my advanced android device. Will check it later on my second gen iPad Pro.

Doesn’t work

Just purchased this and have the new 13.1 update and it will not open. It just says hue dynamic and then closes. This needs fixed or I deserve a refund.

Response from developer

An update has now been released 1.6.2.1 which resolves this problem. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Amazing app! I could put 6 stars!

I have tried plenty of app, but this one stands out. It has the functionality of many apps in one. My favorite features are:

- the power outage triggering all lights to turn off. It takes 10-15 seconds after the hue bridge reboots to turn everything off. Very handy if you are away from home! Save energy bill!

- Multi-bridge support.

- lock access to specific lamps. Very handy if you have kids and don’t want them to mess with all lamps in the house, but just their room.

I highly recommend.
Congratulations to the developer.

Loving it!

I was looking for a way to program the Hue Tap Switch other than using the Apple Home app or the native Hue app, both of which were limited in functions. Stumbled upon this and now my switch works the way it’s suppose to. Did you know that the switches can be toggles? I didn’t. Now I have one switch toggling 3 or more levels of brightness of the current color scheme, I have another switch toggling through a number of ambiance settings, another that just turns the Reading Scheme on and another to turn off all the lights in my living room. I could activate switches for multiple rooms, but now I think I will get a switch for every room, thanks HueDynamic!

Just buy the app

Just buy the app is good all in one

Best Yet

I’ve had this on a Windows tablet for a while, and was delighted to see that it had come to IOS! I have many IOS Hue apps, including many with crazy-priced IAP’s for simple ambiences, and this one blows me away with its included toolkit of effects for your Hue system. The options are so comprehensive, and well organized that it puts most others to shame. Music beat response, color matching to camera roll or live camera view...it’s all there with lots of customization to go with it. AND NO IAP’S!! Bravo to this developer! I’m sure this app will only get even better!

Very solid! In my top 3 Hue apps!

The diversity is very fun and refreshing! Between all of the experiences, ambiances, and photo search made this worth getting.

Not to mention the Disco, camera mode, and the easily usable light control.

There was even something I hadn’t seen yet which was a “Fall Asleep Light” which in of itself was customizable.

Try this one out, it’s worth the download!
