It’s not the best.
The photos work fine but the camera screen thing won’t display. A big green screen that says HUJI just stays there and every once in a while it will fully display.

the thing where it says you can buy extra options for .99, scam. it adds $9.65 to it and doesn’t tell you. but i like the photos it makes.
90’s Disposable Camera? Chef Kiss
This app is so simple but incredibly effective and versatile. I love the deep and inky saturated colours, the randomised light leaks/flares and the grain/blur introduced really helps soften the hyper-aggressive sharpening modern iPhones perform as standard. The time/date stamp as well gives a wonderful nostalgic experience many of us millennials haven’t seen in such a long time. And you also don’t know exactly what you are going to get, as all of the effects are randomised!
There’s also a one time fee of £0.99 in app, which allows you to ‘upload’ any photo you have already taken and have Huji process it like you’ve literally just taken that photo with Huji. Super cool feature and worth every of those 99 pennies.
Also, the most important feature of this app is the ability to have ‘Preserve Original Photos’ on. As this means you make zero compromises. In the past I have faffed around jumping between apps, trying to get a ‘stock photo’ and then a ‘fun photo’ - often missing the moment. This feature means you get a cool retro photo and the original image. Game changer - and because of this feature, I now use Huji as my primary camera app.
Dazz Cam is another good alternative - It can emulate a vast number of different retro cameras and offers more granular fine-tuning that Huji doesn’t. But fundamentally it lacks the immediacy & simplicity that Huji has, and just like a real disposable camera - it’s just point and shoot. What it lacks in functionality vs something like Dazz Cam, it makes up for by executing PERFECTLY.. And if you aren’t happy, just import the original photo in the app and re-run. Re-run again. And again. Some of my favourite Huji processed photos have come on the 4th or 5th attempt!
Nostalgia aside, what this app does is make photography feel less sterile/clinical than the ‘perfect’, hyper hyper-processed smartphone images we are used to. To me, the Huji app makes photos feel more human. And those photos look and feel, how my memories look and feel.
And it’s basically free.

Amazing!!!
Perfect for if you don’t want to invest in a physical digital camera! I also love how you don’t have to pay to use it and it dosent bombard you to purchase the extra thing!
Irritating
The pictures in the app turn out to be really cool and vintage. Other than that, it’s actually kind of hard to get to the camera. I couldn’t figure out how to go to the actual camera that wasn’t the small rectangle in the corner.

I downloaded a few days ago and then I had to realize you have to import pictures for .99c and that’s kind of ridiculous even though it’s not that much I still don’t think you should have to pay for the stuff

I honestly love this app so much my friends and I take such cute photos and it’s way easier than putting a filter on all my pictures!!

FIX THE CAMERA
I love HUJI so much but the only thing that is really annoying is that it’s so hard to press on the camera and make it go in to full mode

Years of photos lost when it updated I want them back. I just lost someone I loved and need those photos please I’m begging

This app is AMAZING!! I was skeptical on downloading because I didn’t know if the pictures were going to be good, but they are amazing. If you love vintage or digital camera style photos, this app is amazing for it!! Never using my other camera again!! They are also super easy to download into your files or photo apps. Love this app!!

Annoyed
Every time I open the app, the camera doesn’t immediately show up. I have to tap on the screen constantly clicking taking pictures before the camera actually shows up. At this point, I’m just gonna delete the app because it’s not worth the annoyance. It’s too bad because the pictures it takes I do like.

Camera doesn’t open
The camera doesn’t open. I click it to zoom/enhance it, so I can see if it actually is capturing what I need it to capture, but it’s as if I never click the camera option in the app. The only buttons that work are the Lab, actual photo taker button, and flash. Please fix this!!!
