great system!
ive tried multiple different apps, sites, and programs to learn japanese. human japanese (regular and intermediate) has been the best by far. everything is shown in stages, making sure you understand the basics before moving on via examples and text comparisons and anecdotes. worth much more than they’re charging, its a great deal!

...to learn, speak, or read Japanese....you’ve wasted ur money. I travel to Japan frequently and the HJ apps have taught me to read, write, and appreciate this beautiful language.

I've never seen a language learning app that is better than this one. This app inspired me to learn Japanese at university, and the university textbooks can't even come close to this app. Great job! In case you all don't know, the developers have put out a new online Japanese learning tool called Satori Reader. It's just as good, but a bit different.

Absolutely awesome learning tool. I would recommend this to anyone studying Japanese! It is very easy to learn and portable and the information is gold. I wish they would make an advance Human Japanese. I would pay for it.

It has been a few years since I took Japanese classes at my university, and it seems like everything I ever learned has left me! This app is wonderful; the layout, lesson plans, and progression are so logical, and make learning fun and exciting. I feel like my lost knowledge is coming back! I would definitely recommend this app to anyone who wants to study and learn Japanese.

This is my favorite and most-used app. I don't mean for Japanese, but in general!
I've spent countless hours studying with it. Japanese is such a different, complex language, and I've been an adult longer than I was a minor, so studying is not a skill I'm used to. But Human Japanese Intermediate is so intuitive. It's got voiceover, interactive quizzes, animations. That makes it the most complete language lesson this side of actual classes (plus it's much cheaper!).
Sure, you could get a chintzy app that just gives you some vocab and phrases; but HJ Intermediate taught me the right way: How to read, write, and truly understand Japanese. Even as I've completed it months ago, I still use it and will continue to do so as I further my Japanese studies.

Easiest and most intuitive approach to learning Japanese!
I have purchased both Human Japanese Beginner and Human Japanese Intermediate several times for different systems (iPad, PC, Mac) and I love it! I have completed HJ Beginner several times to deepen my understanding, but was speaking, reading, and writing it throughout the first time. I am now on HJ Intermediate and everything just got better. Same great way to learn, but even more efficient! Thanks for creating such a helpful app!

Hands down the best way to learn on your own...
I've tried them all… books, websites, apps, podcasts… this is by far the best way to learn Japanese I'm home. I was hesitating to buy this app at first because I already have a little knowledge of Japanese. And sure enough there were some things I already knew. But the way it's presented and explained, with so many details and examples, makes it worth your time anyway. One of my favorite part is all those sample sentences that show you what you're learning in context. You can use it to practice your pronunciation while listening to a native speaker. It's really super useful.
I'm really hoping there's an advanced app in the works…
The only thing I would improve upon would be the SRS algorithm. Or if the author could put an Anki deck together to go with the app, that would be more than enough for me.

If you're reading these reviews....
...you're probably on the fence, trying to get a feel for whether or this app is worth your time and money. Like me, you may have some background in the language (enough to feel pretty secure skipping the first Human Japanese app) but you don't know whether this one might be either out of your depth or a rehash of things you already know.
Stop debating. Get it. You can thank me later.
Yes, there probably will be a bit of overlap with things you already know, but even those will be presented in an engaging, clear, and most importantly, memorable way. I'm only a few chapters in, and already desperately crossing my fingers for a high-intermediate/advanced release before I finish.

One of the best way to learn Japanese language
I highly recommend this app if you want to learn Japanese. Keep in mind that this is the intermediate level of Japanese. If you are a beginner or starting out, go with the Human Japanese beginner app. The creator of the Human Japanese apps is very good in teaching the user Japanese language. I started with zero knowledge of the language, but after finishing Human Japanese beginner and do a little bit of my own research, I was able to at least hold up simple conversation with a Japanese person. This is because of the way the apps teach you about grammar usage, and sentence structure in a very easy to understood method.
I am only just starting out on this intermediate level, so far I am greatly enjoying it. I am greatly confident that the intermediate level will greatly improve my Japanese speaking skills. Especially that it is created by the same team of Human Japanese beginner level.
English is my second language. Japanese will be my third. So no matter what your skill level or age, anybody can learn Japanese efficiently and quicker by just using the Human Japanese series apps. I therefore give this app 5 stars.
