Very intuitive app for great product

I’ve had the Proton for 6 months now and I’ve really enjoyed using the machine and the app. I’ve historically had a lot of trouble with groundstroke to approach shot transition, so the custom mode of the app really came into heavy use for me. It’s honestly delightful that the developers put so much thought into how a shot can be programmed. Totally recommend and I also think the Proton beats almost any other machine in the market at the moment.

Badly needs a lock screen pause/play button

The app seems functional enough but I see it as a safety issue for the user to have to take their phone out of their pocket and unlock it in order to pause the machine. A pause/play button on the lock screen, à la a music or podcast app, would be a major, major quality of life improvement for the overall system.

Ball Machine itself is stellar when it works.

The machine is fantastic when it’s working and the when the app is working—however, there is a good chunk of updates to the app that completely brick the machine or its programs on the app. Also the bluetooth receiver module on the machine itself seems so weak, I constantly have problems with the machine disconnecting from my phone mid hitting session.

Aside from these issues the machine is great, the balls are heavy and really do make you a better ball striker. Also the customer support is great.

Latest updates broke almost all modes in the App.

Any built in or custom program that uses oscillators no longer works. :(

Frustrating App

The machine itself is 5/5. The app is 1/5 and really drags the entire system down. Renaming custom programs is almost impossible. Sometimes they rename it works sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it seems like the renaming worked, and then you get out of the app and get back in and the renaming reverses to the old name. Super frustrating. The entire app needs to be redone to create a better user experience.

Latest update has problems

Just download the latest update two days back and keeps hanging. Need to close the app and reopen and it does not let me make any adjustments in terms of speed etc. Just keeps hanging and need to restart .
wish this can be taken care of ASAP.

Update- the new update took care of the issue I had . I am able to edit etc.. thank you for the quick help.

Machine great, app not

App needs a UX designer. Custom programs are difficult to manage. Program name window is too short. Difficult to create a custom shot, customize it and test it.

This is a great machine, but some care for the app would take it to the next level.

New version doesnt work

I installed the new version of the app. And now Im unable to create or modify custom programs. Ive been in contact with the support team. I keep getting told a reinstall is likely the quickest fix. Except, reinstalling the same, buggy version keeps resulting in the same outcome. Maybe the app development team will see this. I need the previous version of the app so I can use the custom programs. Otherwise Im limited to just using the control panel.

The issues you’re describing were real limitations in that version, and the newer releases address them directly. Love my Proton, but this app needs a lot of work

The ball machine is great, but this app is painful. I like the built in programs but want to customize for some subtle changes.

They can copy easily enough, but then there's nowhere to paste. One can view the map of the ball trajectory in the pre-built, but then that doesn't show when customizing. It feels impossible to make a custom program, and I'm tech savvy. The app customization, or lack thereof, makes me sad.

Great little machine but buggy app

1. Sometimes the random drills will feed the ball out.

2. Sometimes the app will forget that you’ve moved the machine. Ie if you select relocate proton on top, occasionally and randomly it will get deselected rendering all your programmed shots wonky.

Custom Programs Continue to Frustrate

There’s some serious bugs in the custom programs that diminish the joy of this app.

Renaming: sometimes it sticks. Sometimes, minutes later, it reverts.

Shots: Sometimes the shot works. Other times, out of the blue, a shot that worked is suddenly out of range of one or more parameters.

Reordering: Again, sometimes it sticks. Sometimes it doesn’t. And sometime it just reverts after seeming to stick.

These annoyances are tolerable if you’re programming before hitting the court. But it kills the momentum if you’re getting these bugs while practicing.

Given it’s been 7 months without any updates I’m growing concerned over the app side of Hydrogen’s house.

And we haven’t even gotten into all the weird quirks of the watch app!

Capable but buggy

Sick of paying top dollar for things that kind of work. To be fair, most things work, but the Groove It setting, the random one that is most like a human player, can’t be executed. I get an error that says “machine can’t execute this program.” It’s the 1st program in this list! It’s designed by the machine makers!

Should that bring it down to just 2 stars? To me it does. This machine cost $1600. There shouldn’t be any issues.

Great app but needs session date

The app great great, but please add session data: Session date/time/length/programs played/ #balls/ avg ball speed/etc. A history of each session would be nice too :-)

Is there a way to back up custom shots?

If you delete the app and redownload it do you lose your custom programs?

Really poor customer service

The ball machine itself is great this is mainly for the poor customer service. When I received the package, there was no charging chord inside. After months of emailing customer service, they still haven't mailed me the missing chord. It's very frustrating and I don't know how to get their attention at this point. My last email to them was 7 days ago and nobody replied ever since. I just need the charging chord so I can charge the battery, this is how simple it is!!!

Apple Watch App not so good

Watch App was working fine, made a few tweaks to my Custom Programs of the iPhone App and now the Watch App cannot get the programs. It’s a hassle picking up my phone on court to start/pause the Custom Programs. Hope they get it fixed soon.

Brilliant machine and app

Used to have a lobster machine that almost broke my back every time I took it out. The Proton is light, easy to set up and very easy to use. I love it and highly recommend it to anyone who wants a great workout.

iPhone A+/Apple Watch D-

App is working great from phone but won’t load from Apple Watch which is a huge bummer. I had planned to strictly control machine from watch instead of having to put my phone down by a nearby bench and run to machine to try and catch first feed. I hope they fix the connectivity soon
