Great app
This is a great app, well designed, and very stable. It started off good, and subtle features have been added. Finding our Hymns has never been easier, which also includes our Graces, and the 1951 edition of Hymns Old & New. (plus other languages) Thanks very much for your work! A timesaver…
Why??
I looked at so manny reviews and many people complain! They are hymns. They bring joy and peace. This is just an app that won’t matter later. Enjoy the hymns instead of scorning them!
Much appreciated, one possible request
Very nice, very helpful app. Thanks. The music notes view is so nice for those of us with poor vision, making it so much easier for playing the hymns on the piano. I can see the music on the large iPad.
One request, if it were relatively easy to do: I have a Bluetooth page turner, which sends the page down/ page up command to my iPad. The page turner does not have any effect on the pages in the hymn book app. It works great with things like Safari or a PDF document, so I know it’s working, but the main purpose of it is for turning pages of the hymns when playing the piano since your hands are tied up.
My Bluetooth page turner is configurable, so I can choose what commands to send, like page down, arrow left, arrow right, etc, but none of them have any effect on scrolling the music down…

Decent
There are some good hymns here, but they're categorized by the person who wrote them, not by the title of the song. That can make it hard if you don't know what you're looking for... And not having a lot of hymn writers, this sorely limits the search for many classic, and especially the more obscure, hymns.
I can't say it's a bad app, though. It works well for what it is, and has simple, easy-to-use features that work.
There may be better Hymn apps out there, I just don't know any, yet. I'm still working my way through them.

Max font size not large enough
The new update has some great new features however the max font size has been greatly reduced which is a big problem for visually impaired users. Any chance of a fix?
Zoom function diminished
Disappointed to loose the two-finger zoom capability in yesterdays update. This feature was very useful for people with vision impairment who rely on this app for accessibility. The Apple Accessibility zoom is clumsy.

We decided to remove the pinch and zoom in favour of adjusting manually as we found some elderly were accidentally pinching and getting into a state they couldn’t read the text and were confused on how they got there. We are planning on making some sort of font size adjuster in the reader screen itself for easier change.

I wouldn’t be without this reference work and that is so convenient on my mobile phone which is with me always has proved its versatility. I love it. Robert. Aug/2023
Works great
This app works very well. But it needs an update. The header bar migrates downward on the page when I scroll through the text. Updating my phone does not fix it.

No longer workong
I have used this app for years but now on my new iPhone 14 it no longer works. I get a blank screen with an edit button that doesn't do anything.
Sadly, it doesn’t work
I dl’d it, and all I get is a blank screen with an Edit button on the top left that does nothing when pressed. I tried refreshing, closing and reopening, turning off my cell phone, and just get the blank screen. Very sad. Thankfully I paid nothing but a few seconds of my time and a button press.

I reluctantly give 4 stars because access to the updated app was NOT intuitive. Per another reviewer I did delete the app and reinstall it-but this did not activate the new release. To get access to the updated or new released app YOU MUST CLICK ON “Chapter House Ltd.” I just randomly clicked on it to see what it was and saw two app options, one being the newer version. Sigh. How was I to know to click here initially? Curiosity, I guess. This all aside, the capabilities of the app are fab and now with the sheet music option I’ll even use the app more than in the past. Keep your charger handy... Thank you to Allan Pub for making the app available! Love it. TO THOSE OF YOU WHO CAME ACROSS THIS APP in the App Store AND CANNOT ACCESS the info: this is a unique app in that you must purchase access to hymns via the Bibles-direct website hosted by the UK. Then they contact you with a UNIQUE username and pwd created on their end. YOU DO NOT CREATE AN ACCOUNT ON YOUR OWN!! There really should be some info for people on this platform explaining the unique circumstances of this app. Geesh.

Good app
Useful app. I mainly use it for looking up certain Hymns. If you're like me and downloaded this app a long time ago, delete it and redownload it and the music button appears!
Question
How do I get the sheet music added to my app? My husband downloaded this app on the same phone as I have and he has a sheet music tab, however mine doesn’t. Can I get this updated?

Doesn't work
I am unable to login. The screen flashes the login boxes then goes blank and must be restarted. Only the public content is accessible. I used to love this app.
No go!
If you are a VoiceOver user, it seems that you will have absolutely no luck with this app. I wasn't even able to find out which hymn books were available in the app, because even the pickers don't work. I wish it _were accessible, as I am sure it would be a really good app.Update: the new version is even less accessible than the previous one, and I get no help from App Support either.

Don't download
Deleted app right away. I was asked to give my information without no explanation as to why and what will happen. App doesn't even deserve a one star - it's a zero app.
