Love it

I just started using this app about a week ago, and I already love it. Sometimes I will find myself tuning out of podcasts because of my ADHD. But with the transcription feature, I don’t have to worry about that. That is pretty darn sweet. Also, thank you for making it accessible to the blind.

Meh, Still Needs Work

The navigation in this app is unintuitive. Text overwrites text on the subscriptions screen. Apple car play does not work. Only presents the list of podcasts episodes. Select an episode and it crashes. Tested in a ‘9 Toyota Camry with iPhone 13 running iOS 15.6.

Filled my phone’s storage

Used for several months and was happy for the most part. Did notice some problems that other apps tended to crash while this was playing in the background. But I wasn’t sure which apps were causing the problem. Finally decided to delete the app when I realized that it had filled my phone’s storage with 58 Gigs of data. Turns out it hadn’t been deleting old episodes even when I manually deleted them from the app. The only way to clear the old podcast from storage was to go into settings and manually delete them one at a time. Or delete the whole app. Good bye hypercatcher.

Carplay buggy

I couldn’t find any way to report bugs.
I’m the car, running HyperCatcher often won’t start playing. You may be able to select a podcast but play and it dumps out to the carplay main screen.
You’ve got to open the phone and launched HyperCatcher there and start playing.

I liked it but it has started crashing constantly

It’s almost un usable now, please fix

Podcast 2.0 First look

I have been looking for a podcast to replace the mess Apple has made of the built in app.
As a Baron Producer of the NoAngenda Show, I always test against this podcast.
The most glaring missing feature on my first cursory view is a sleep timer.

Best one out there for 2.0

Id like apple watch functionality though

Almost perfect

Sadly I can’t use it without being able to download full episodes. I don’t understand how the backend works but I hope it’s possible in the future. Until then I’m stuck with Apples app.

Great replacement for Apple Podcasts App but…

I’ve been using HyperCatcher as my regular podcast player for several months. Functionality is solid but sometimes the most recent podcasts don’t show up in the Episode Newest subscription list. You need to go to the Podcasts list, find the subscribed podcast then open it to find the latest version. Since HyperCatcher is the only iOS app that supports the podcast index (podcasting 2.0) that I know of, I can find shows that apple may suppress. I am supporting the developer with the premium subscription, but am not sure it does anything different than the free version (the app still asked me to “Upgrade to Premium” even though I’ve been paying the premium subscription for a few months. Finally, I’d like to use the newsletter feature but have not been able to figure out how to confirm a subscription sent to the email generated by HyperCatcher. I’d like to chat with the developer, David Norman, but have no idea how to contact him.

Replaced apple podcasts

With this app. Pretty happy with it. Some bugs with the search and one particular podcast makes the app crash. Other than that. Way better than whatever apple just did in their “update”.

Direct download please

App has most of the podcasts I listen to. Easy to add with a few hiccups.

I agree with the “clunky” review from someone else. Finding the podcast itself vs an episode is way too difficult. I don’t always finish the original podcast so trying to find the newest one shouldn’t be so hard. Searching through all the new episodes for podcasts I don’t want to listen to is a pain. An easy to find option for podcast then episode would be better.

An option for direct download is a must for flyers.

Podcasting 2.0

Chapters and note taking are killer features for me. Thank you and keep at it. Value for value wins out so if I end up switching to this podcasting app after extended use then I will 100% sign up to the monthly subscription.

Outstanding

Adam Curry sent me to this app from his podcastindex.org podcast. The implementation of the enhanced content is off to a great start.

I somehow missed the easy to find 2x option originally. Great app and I love the experience.

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for checking out the app! You can select playback speed by tapping the 1x button next to the rewind button on the player. I hope that helps, thanks again!

Can’t import from overcast

Although I don’t see myself jumping ship from overcast anytime soon due to the fact that I’m grandfathered in and don’t have to pay for all the special features they offer through paid, but the fact that I can’t even import my podcasts to hypercatcher is a little annoying. But I’d like to start supporting companies that are supporting podcasting 2.0.

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for checking out the app and supporting podcasting 2.0! The latest release fixes a bug that prevented importing from other podcast apps. I hope that helps, thanks again!

Interesting technology

Interface is a bit clunky, I’m sure it will get better over time.

Could not import podcasts from Pocket Casts. That was a bummer.

May go Premium at some point if the bugs get worked out.
