Audio Issues
The concept of the app is amazing, but the audio issues are extremely frustrating. When they fix the audio bugs that cause you to be unable to listen or start any playlist I will up my rating score.
Great start to a language app offering what others don't
I would really like to see a Leitner spaced-repetition option so that you aren't left to sheer motivation to get those repetitions in.

In the short time using this app I’ve gained more traction in my target language than I experienced in six months using a CI platform. The methodology is simple but the work is hard. It reminds me of the years I spent studying classical guitar. I could listen to a lot of guitar music but I would never play without scales and drills. This app cuts out the fluff and provides a concise and efficient approach to language learning. Big thumbs up. 👍

The spanish app I did not know I needed….. Awesome
I have been struggling to make headway in spanish, even with classes etc, and when I downloaded this and started the sentences and immediately it has made a difference. I never know this is what I needed, and I actually look forward to using this every day now. Such an amazing concept to learn.

An ok app
I’m a native English speaker learning Japanese. I’d love to give a 5 star because the concept of learning in this manner is very promising and in a lot of ways does work. However it would be a great help if they would add another line with English with the same sentence structure as the Japanese to help figure out which word is which. Until this happens you will be left with googling every word until you have them all written down sucking up a lot of study time. And then you will learn quickly.

I’ve been trying to learn Spanish for the past few years and found Mikel’s YouTube channel about a year ago. His approach is totally different than any gamified app or legacy language program.
The magic in his system is focusing on learning exactly what you’re wanting to say for each level you’re at or the exact situation you’re in, then scale outward from there.
Other apps or programs give you random words or conjugations, then expect you to build native sentences. You end up being paralyzed because it feels like homework. The truth is that you need to drill and listen to how to natively talk about your day or order food so you have confidence saying basic, yet highly useful things.
It’s better to make some mistakes but get your idea across vs trying to be perfect in the beginning - stop trying to master tenses and master what you’re trying to say!
He recommends you start with the 300 Q&As in your language, then you read and listen to them, then speak along, then do active recall. You can even download the sentences offline and listen to them over and over again.
His approach has made a huge difference in my ability to have conversations. I am SO happy there is finally an app built for this so that I can stop manually building sentences, adding to a TTS tool to listen, making flash cards, etc.
Please do yourself a favor and try this app. You can learn a language, you just need to focus on high reps of useful sentences!

I’ve tried every major language learning app you can think of and used AI tools like ElevenLabs and Claude—this is better than everything.

Ich nutze HyperLingua seit dem 1.6 und verfolge die Inhalte des Entwicklers Mikel Telleria schon deutlich länger auf YouTube. Seine Sprachlernmethoden haben mir bereits vor der App gefallen und erinnern mich in vielen Punkten an den Ansatz von Vera F. Birkenbihl: Sprache wird nicht über stumpfes Auswendiglernen vermittelt, sondern durch ständigen Kontakt mit verständlichen Inhalten.
Ich lerne ausschließlich Japanisch mit HyperLingua und bin besonders begeistert davon, dass Deutsch als Ausgangssprache angeboten wird. Viele Sprachlern-Apps setzen Englisch voraus, was für deutschsprachige Lernende oft eine zusätzliche Hürde darstellt. Hier kann ich direkt aus meiner Muttersprache lernen.
Der Lernansatz gefällt mir sehr gut. Statt isolierter Vokabellisten begegnen einem alltagsnahe Sätze, durch die man neue Wörter und Ausdrücke ganz nebenbei aufnimmt. Auch die Grammatik wird nicht trocken präsentiert, sondern durch wiederholte Begegnungen mit Satzstrukturen vermittelt. Dadurch entwickelt sich nach und nach ein natürliches Sprachgefühl.
Die Benutzeroberfläche ist übersichtlich gestaltet und erklärt verständlich, wie die App aufgebaut ist und wie das Lernen funktionieren soll. Außerdem bietet HyperLingua bereits jetzt eine beeindruckende Menge an Inhalten.
Die Audios sind klar verständlich und funktionieren einwandfrei. Laut Anbieter stammen sie von Muttersprachlern, was sich positiv auf Aussprache und Hörverständnis auswirkt.
Besonders hervorheben möchte ich auch, dass die App derzeit komplett werbefrei und kostenlos nutzbar ist. Wie eine mögliche Premium-Version später aussehen wird, bleibt abzuwarten.
Verbesserungspotenzial sehe ich vor allem an drei Stellen: Für den Japanisch-Kurs würde ich mir Furigana über den Kanji wünschen, damit neue Schriftzeichen leichter erschlossen werden können. Außerdem fände ich eine optionale Dekodierungsansicht hilfreich, bei der die einzelnen japanischen Wörter und Satzbestandteile direkt ihrer deutschen Bedeutung zugeordnet werden. Aktuell wird meist nur die natürliche deutsche Übersetzung angezeigt, wodurch gerade bei Japanisch manchmal unklar bleibt, welches Wort oder welche Struktur welchem Teil der Übersetzung entspricht. Eine solche Ansicht würde das Erkennen von Satzmustern und Grammatikstrukturen deutlich erleichtern.
Darüber hinaus wäre es großartig, wenn man Beispielsätze personalisieren könnte. Aus einem Satz wie „Ich wohne in Toronto“ könnte man dann beispielsweise „Ich wohne in München“ machen. Solche Anpassungen würden den persönlichen Bezug erhöhen und das Gelernte noch besser im Gedächtnis verankern.
Für absolute Anfänger könnte die Menge an Inhalten anfangs etwas überwältigend wirken. Wer jedoch bereit ist, sich auf die Methode einzulassen, findet hier einen sehr praxisnahen und durchdachten Ansatz zum Sprachenlernen.

Great app, but missing a crucial audio feature!
The app is actually really great, especially for beginners, and it makes everything easy to understand. However, I am really missing a specific feature when listening to the sentences on the go:
Unfortunately, there is no option to have the native language repeated along with the target language during playback. In the beginning, this would be incredibly helpful. If you could hear the translation directly back-to-back, you wouldn't constantly have to look at the screen. This would make it much easier to use the app passively—like while cleaning, driving, or cooking—and would help to understand the context much better right from the start.
I really hope the developers add a "bilingual audio mode" (native language followed by the foreign language) in a future update. If that gets added, it’s a definite 5-star app!
