Crashing
Was enjoying this app until it started crashing. What’s happening - are there any fixes in the future. Has been down for a while now.
5years since the last update?
Some of us bought the full version which seems to have disappeared. I was still using itcand am so disappointed that Matt seems to have abandoned it
Served it’s purpose but abandoned
Crashes on iOS 16 and hasn’t been updated for five years. Was good while it lasted.

Simply useless
I got this to try out before paying for the full version. Nothing works! I added one of my books to try out and got the message ‘failed to parse ePub’ and no further attempts to add the book would work. I then tried to add a book from my Google Drive account and the app was unable to connect to Drive, giving the message ‘Error 401: deleted client’. This is despite the fact that I have Drive working perfectly on my phone. I’ll be deleting this app and trying something else. Don’t give your money to this bunch of clowns!

Hyphen works well with Calibre
I love that this app allowed me to interface with my digital Calibre library, and purchased the full version and have never looked back.
It’s a brilliant, modern, little book reader that allows you to import from many sources, then just read at your leisure.

No GDrive
Was considering to purchase the paid version if it went smooth with the free version. I am unable to access my Google Drive from within the app as stated. There is a 401 error as another review had stated. I’m extremely disappointed since the app was recommended from an article I had read and it had seemed promising.

Absolutely perfect, where every other app disappointed
Spend 2 days researching & testing which ePub reader was the best. I almost settled on Marvin 3. Good, but I was still unhappy as it was a bit unintuitive & was missing ‘tap & drag’ to highlight. I started to believe the perfect ePub reader did not exist. Then I found Hyphen. Wow! Exactly what I was looking for. Absolutely perfect. I almost never write reviews, but this developer has really impressed me. To the developer, “You are a genius. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Nice reading app. Worth downloading and trying out. Solid set of features—has most everything an ebook aficionado would want. Good, easy-to-use interface. Excellent customization. Includes dictionary and saving vocabulary words as needed.
Seems like a Marvin clone.
Several issues.
1. Bookmark symbol in page upper right corner is too small.
2. Time stamps (relative ones) appear on ALL highlights, bookmarks, vocabulary, etc. We don’t need to know, however, especially in the middle of the night, when it was that we flagged something! There should be an option to turn off the time stamp!
This and the next were the dealbreakers.
3. Downloading limited. Has links to sites such as Project Gutenberg, but one is not able to *search* them! Can only browse.
4. Can use app’s built in web access to search for books, but that uses Google for searching, which raises tracking, advertising, and privacy concerns!
5. Wide, but *preset* color selection. It needs RGB controls for precise control. When screen colors are inverted, e.g., one cannot get *bright* orange text!
6. Slide left to delete a book would be good; as would a pop up to assign a book to a Shelf after holding down its title. Right now, those actions require several steps and seem too convoluted, modular, and laborious.
7. Turning off publisher’s formatting should be under Colors and Formatting, especially as several customized choices don’t take effect until one turns that off. But it’s under another tab!
Exploring Shubook’s rich set of controls and approach could help the developers.
In any event, the app is worth downloading and trying out. It’s a good entrant into a crowded field. What I see as irritants, you may well not!

This app rocks!
So many good customization options, and so much attention to detail. There are many ebook readers that are annoying—this one is not.
Great but
Highlights should go with the ePub and not be separate. This is the main reason I won't buy.
Good but inconvenience
I'd like to use this app if it doesn't have too much limitation! Highlights bookmarks and number of books can read are all i concern more than formatting, so i decided to delete it and using Marvin instead even its isn't as good as this app. Voted 4 stars because the app really is the best reading ePub I've been tried up to now.

It worked at first but, then it said I needed to get the full version to read more than one book. Srsly?! I need It for EPub. I can't use it for all of them because I "Can Only read one" really? I deleted it right away and you should too if you download it. If you are going to download the free version... DON'T! IT IS A RIP OFF!

Developing to be the best ereader
If you’re serious about reading, you will love this ereader. It has many nice features, and if there is one you find missing, you can suggest it to the developer, who is very responsive.

Great reading app! Easy to customize to your heart's content. Has finger swipe for brightness and Goodreads integration. Good font selection, too. Very happy with it.

I'm glad the developer offered a free version to try, otherwise I probably would not have bought the full version. But I tried it and loved it and am happy to support further development. Best ereader available these days!
