Paid for features that I’m not getting.
With this app being so highly rated and I want it to be useful—the app doesn’t do what it’s saying it will for me. I purchased this app on my iPad as I believe the features would be really convenient to use, however none of the syntax features work at all on my iPad. This is an iPad Pro that is only a few years old. The app works perfectly fine on my iPhone but I didn’t pay for it to be used on there. Please fix this issue as I’m certain I’m probably not the only person experiencing this.

Bowing to the Buddha nature, iA Writer presents a white space/blank page/tabula rasa that my ADHD brain appreciates. As said in meditation and concept, “It’s just like this.” And iA Writer enables me to write without backspacing, correcting, editing, and just…writing like no one is watching… Freestyle, free flowing, thank you iA Writer for continuing the updates and improvements, after all these years, you are still my number one. ✌🏼🫶🏼✨

便利に使っていますが、最近の仕様変更で検索がわけがわからなくなってしまい、使用に耐えません。探しているメモに辿り着けません。日本語だけなのかもしれませんが、検索語の最初の文字しか探せていなかったり。

MacでもiOSでもシームレスに使えて、ノートの数が増えても重くならないし、ファイルの状態がオープンなので手動でバックアップする事もできるのがいい。中身がただのテキストファイルなので階層を入れ替えたり他のエディタで編集したりしても問題がおこらない。

Terrible customer service
I found a bug that renders this app useless for me. (Constant pop up "File not found" while editing files.) Submitted a bug report. Was politely told that it’s not gonna be fixed, while actually being a known problem. After I replied, suggesting that the app for a fee has to provide some service and fix issues, I did not even get a reply. Not a worthy investment of money at all. I switched to free Runestone app for my markdown editing and it’s great!

I have this on Mac and iOS. The outline navigation is a great new feature. It’s free of bloat, opens quickly, and syncs perfectly. If even Ulysses has too much to distract you, you’ll be at home with version 8 of iA Writer. Plus, it’s great to have all my writing in plain text markdown files, rather than locked away in a database and held hostage by a subscription.

Estupenda app sea que escribas o simplemente la uses para tus notas, fácil de usar aunque los cambios en la interfase son menos intuitivos. Pero igualmente muy buena. Tengo muchos años usándola.
Exceptional Tool For Writers, BUT…
I am using Scrivener for organizing the memoir I’m writing, but it hasn’t been an easy app for me to write in. iA Writer is the easiest app I’ve found for writing, but its templates for printing are almost non-existent. The type sizes are too small and the margins are too wide. There is no way to reset margins, fonts, or type sizes within the app and the templates are difficult to change for non-technical users. I’m disappointed.

Simple, beautiful, detail obsessed. I’ve always stored my life in plain text and iA Writer is the app I live in nowadays. Motions between actions happen almost at the speed of thought.
The new iPhone update is another happy surprise. My favourite change is the reworked all-in-one search. It’s the most delighted I’ve been by a bar you type in and it guesses what you want since Firefox introduced the Awesome Bar in 2008.

I’m still with you
chatGPT cares for David and my archive: Research_OS. IAWriter arrived on all devices in my Mac ecosystem and on my M5. In split screen mode on my Studio monitor chatGPT enabled me to talk iAWriter’s language and agreed that the original risk: an expensive purchase: and enables me to work and select fragments for archive which live in Switzerland and in many other and that was easy. I can distribute fragments of trace capture that inform my accidentology and traceology. I’m caring for myself. iAWriter has some tools that began to withdraw from me: keyboard combinations and a navigation that me in a state of near panic were required and chatGPT within Firefox told me how to speak with operators and tools present became present-to-hand once more. IAWIter is still under audit. I say: take the leap. Good luck everyone.

You guys have stayed true to the original goal of a focused, minimal tool, while still adding features. I love this app, use it all the time across my Mac/iOS. I’m so thankful that you guys didn’t switch to a subscription model! Keep killing it!

The best gets better
My all-time favorite app for writing. It’s beautiful, focused, and calm—an antidote to how basically everything else works on devices and computers these days. Absolutely lovely. They sweat the details and it shows.
Great app; Unresolvable file and text loss
The writing itself is gorgeous, minimalist, and incredibly practical. I was very excited for iA to become my main drafting and freewriting tool. The only issue is that sometimes the app will delete chunks or text or lose documents (the titles appear but the content is gone or cannot be opened) if you are saving things to iCloud. I have tried a couple of different things with iCloud to fix this, but no luck. Of course this limits how useful it is, there is nothing the iA writer team can do about this, and I only mention this to other users so they can avoid losing a document in the first place. Just only use the sync features on copies of files that are otherwise stored directly on your device.

Indispensable After 13 Years
I have had this app for nearly thirteen years, it has been my indispensable writing companion that entire time. Indispensable to the point that I am unable to make the switch to android as this app is no longer supported there. I literally just got a new phone and it had to be an iPhone solely because of this app, that’s how much I love it. Every feature is useful, succinct and it’s worth every penny. I highly recommend!

Great markdown syncing app
I love the sinking across the Mac and Phone works well. I’ve got a handful of apps like this and great for markdown. I’d love to see AI tools implemented it’d be perfect with the name like iA Writer
