What's New in iCatcher! Podcast Player

15.0.3

July 16, 2026

If you find iCatcher useful, please consider tipping in the help and settings tab, or share the app with your friends! Thanks! What’s new - Changed edit button to a pencil icon instead of the rounded rect with a pencil - Import media tapping some items will show using the QuickLook preview instead of opening the file in iCatcher. This is for files that are not supported by iCatcher, such as PDFs, CSV, etc. Bug Fixes - Fix for crash during refresh - Fix for crash navigating to next episode in playlist in rare scenarios - Fix for play/pause issue for picture-in-picture playback. - Fix for bulk mark as played not always updating the counts for a podcast - Fix for the Podcast Defaults text color in certain night mode scenarios - Fix for sorting within a podcast when using the global default - Potential fix for issue with now playing view when connected to external device - Fix for dark mode flashing white on startup when you have the schedule and/or brightness threshold set and active - Fix for adding episodes from within a podcast and it would prompt if you wanted to make those episodes playable. 15.0 - What’s new +iOS 26+, Added a sidebar option on iPad. +iOS 26+, Added the ability to generate [transcripts](transcripts.html). This uses Apple's built-in on-device transcription support. The episode file must be downloaded first, and transcription uses the language specified by the podcast. +iOS 26+, Added a dedicated Search tab for finding new podcasts. +The Podcasts tab now has additional layout options, including multiple tile sizes and the traditional list view. +Updated Playlist Settings. iOS 26+, has the ability to set a playlist color and view the list of playlists in grid view. +The new podcast search gives more prominence to artwork. Tapping an episode now shows more detail, including episode artwork when available. +Added a new podcast default option under Settings, Podcast Defaults for after streaming. One option is Do Nothing, which leaves the streaming flag enabled. +Added Bonus and Trailer media types under Settings, Podcast Defaults, Allowed Media Types, so episodes marked as bonus content or trailers can be excluded from automatically becoming playable. +Added additional playback speed defaults within a podcast's settings. +Updated help viewer. For iOS 26+ users, added translate button to convert to your language of choice. +New onboarding view. Meant for fresh installs, but you can check it out by tapping that link. +Removed Siri shortcuts items under settings tab. Those are all available now as shortcuts actions. +New experimental feature to use a game controller to control certain aspects of the application. Best Podcast App

This podcast app is my favorite. Joe the developer did an amazing job. I noticed that there an a really. Life major update recently which was great.
I have been happily using this app for many many years on my iPhone and iPad. I love the swipe gestures and the user interface is nice. Swipe left or right to skip ahead or back. Swipe up and to the right to mark as played or draw an L to do the Leo skipping 2 minutes.
Double tap to pause or play. I also love the user interface. I have tried many other podcast apps but prefer this one.
This app can play video and audio podcasts.

New UI, but disappointing performance

Update: Moore and Moore playback issues. Episodes pause. The streaming of episodes fails unexpectedly. This is becoming unusable.

The new UI is pretty nice, but I have a lot of issues with playback is unreliable since the refresh. For example, it sometimes takes several taps to get a streaming episode to play. Sometimes it jumps forward to the next episode unexpectedly. Sometimes when I tell Siri to go back several minutes it goes back to the previous episode in the queue.
These are not rare problems. I encounter them basically every other day. I’ve emailed the developer and haven’t heard anything; I’m sure he’s busy…

My favorite podcast app (again)

A mature app, and it keeps getting better. Well-designed, and you can tell that it's had real-world testing. Great usability and attention to detail. With so many features and options, you can configure the app exactly the way you want it. I especially like the Auto Start Sleep Timer, a feature I have not seen in other podcast apps. The developer is responsive and releases timely updates.

Years of podcasting

I started listening to podcasts when Adam Curry (the Pod Father) produced the Daily Source Code podcast.

I’ve tried different podcast players over the years and haven’t found any other players that work as well as iCatcher. The user features make it both easy to use, and has power-user features.

A great product. 👍👍

Working well

So much better than Apple's Pmodcast app. It sometimes freezes on the download screen.
