Not worth it
If you’re visiting the Rockies to climb ice, for the first or second time don’t bother with this book. The free resources online will be enough. Better to use the money to buy more ice screws.
Update?
Wasn’t there supposed to be an update coming out for this app?? Any info on time frame. Thanks
Works well but some of the data doesn’t cross over through the different sub menus. Ex- not all climbs show up when you use map view.
Otherwise, works well.

Disappointed
Definitely not worth the money
Only good for Canadian Rockies, not Western Canada
Excellent resource for ice routes in the Rockies. Barely a handful west of that.
No Lillooet area
Despite the description “Ice Climbing in Western Canada”, it has no Lillooet coverage - and nothing West of Lillooet, for that matter.
The interface is meh, last update 9 months ago, resources section is empty, the compass image that should be circular is an oval. The overall impression: the app developers don’t know what they are doing.

First impressions
Just downloaded the app for a coming trip to Banff. The map feature is nice for an overall understanding of what climbs are where and the descriptions for the routes seem solid. What I expected, but am not seeing, is when I click on the “navigate” tab for a climb that it then opens in google maps / Apple maps. If nothing else, I would have wanted gps coordinates so that I could input them myself into a mall app. More high quality images for the routes would be nice too, a higher frequency or trip reports, and resources (empty at this time) on the home screen where it says “climbing resources.” Bottom line, I’ll use this on vacation so if that map feature saves me from going up the wrong gully just once it’ll probably be worth the $35, but the overall experience from sitting on my couch in Colorado looking the app over is that it feels unfinished.

Good idea, lackluster execution
This app has great content with helpful descriptions for a huge number of routes in Alberta (and a few routes in BC). The content is a bit more than what you'd find in an old-school guide; it tends to have helpful route descriptions but fewer photos than I had hoped for, and many climbing areas are referred to as a single route (particularly in easier and moderate zones). Approach descriptions are helpful, and the 'Navigate to route' feature is great, showing A map with your current location, the trailhead location, and the crag location (and sometimes A trace for the approach trail)
However, as of Jan 2018 (and on an iPhone 5s, iOS 10) the software implementation is incredibly buggy, and basic features do not work. Searching for a route by name or characteristics does not work, many commands take >10s to execute, and the app is prone to crashing. While this app was clearly designed to mimic the navigation and interaction of the Mountainproject app, the implementation needs a *lot* of work.

Disappointing
this app is a serious disappointment and I regret that I bought it. even a visiting ice climber is better off with information from the web, selection guidebooks and other publicly available information.
Amazing Content
Best app around for ice and mixed routes. The user interface is not as clean as it could be. App does crash. I hope this improves in future updates. Buy it for the content, not for the user interface.
