Your steps become the cats that visit your yard. Tekuteku Neko is a step counter and a cat collector in one. Walking earns dried fish (niboshi) and found items; put food out in the yard, close the app, walk, and open it again to see who came. - WALK TO MEET CATS 100 steps = 1 niboshi, 1,000 steps = 1 found item. Steps are read from both the Health app and the device's own pedometer, and the app uses whichever count is larger. Denying either one is fine; the other keeps working alone. This is not a game you stare at; close it and go for a walk. - CATS THAT LIVE IN ONE PLACE Some cats appear only in fixed map cells, about 150 m across. Where each one lives is the same for every player. A "?" on the map shows one is nearby. - WALK MODE While you have started a walk, the cells you pass through are filled in - even with the screen off - and you get a notification when you enter a cell where a cat lives. A walk ends automatically after 20 minutes without movement. When you are not walking, the app does not use your location. - CATALOGUE AND SHARING A catalogue with a completion percentage, and a shareable card showing today's cats, your step count and how many places you found. After a walk you can also share a card with the shape of the blocks you passed and the cats you met. Neither card ever includes the map itself or any coordinates, so they cannot reveal where you live. - WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT No accounts, no ads, no in-app purchases, no developer server. Step counts are converted and discarded. Locations are stored as cell IDs, never as coordinates. Progress syncs only to your own iCloud. - PLAYABLE WITHOUT LOCATION Location is only needed for the cats that live in one particular place; every other cat can be met with your step count alone.
